100% scam artist...he also has a mobile number. Beware...this guys "talks" a good game but when it comes down to it...he is full of crap.many samples delivered to his garage...piece of crap.
I work for a beauty distribution company and he call us this morning. I got as far as asking him for his re seller's permit and to complete our application and he hung up. He also provided me with the same name, address, and phone number(s)Thank you to all the previous posters. I knew that when he hung up something was up, this thread helped a lot!
Thanks for the heads up everyone. He called today and said he wanted to distribute our handmade metal hooks. That he only took 30% of sales rather than traditional 50% and I emailed a line list to Michael.dd0228@gmail.com and he made sure I got his phone number 248-806-3450. Sounds like he's moving into home goods now.
If you shut Michael Norman down, don't expect him to just go away. He'll keep calling you and other people at your business looking for someone to buy his story of needing "promotional items to demo to his 300-350 mom and pop customers". If you have a shipping database, or some sort of customer tracking software - flag his name and address so that one of your co-workers doesn't get fooled.
Has requested samples twice over the last six months using the name Michael Norman the first time and Michael Moore the second time. The business address he gave is a small house, not a commercial address. And he has tons and tons of complaints from many industries about him scamming for free samples and not having a business at all. F rating from Better Business Bureau and a multitude of complaints all over the Internet, including on Manta.com. We did not send him samples.Beware!
Called our business. Gave us two phone numbers. Wants samples & catalogs. Gave us the spiel about he sells to 350 mom&pop retailers.Apparently this guy is a scammer. - Seems apparent by his antiquated answering machine. "say your phone number twice clearly and we will cal you right back." That he is screening calls and a shyster.Staying away!
alsol received call. he is asking for copies of our publication to distribute to others so that further fundraising can be done. sounds questionable. no lislting of detroit distributors or either of numbers under reverse or his name at address listed. no phone number for correct person listed at that address. not normal for legit business.
Yes, he has called us 3 times too but we will not give him samples after reading this. I can't get rid of him. We would have to send him frozen product on dry ice, very expensive. He said he sells to 350+ families and restaurants. Sounds like he is all over the place on who he targets...books, food, what ever!
We are a very small specialty food producer and got a voicemail from Michael Norman this morning. His pitch about the "350 Mom and Pop" retailers and school fundraising and demanding samples was exactly as everyone here has recounted. Thanks to everyone here who has reported this sad person so that we can protect ourselves.
We got “THE CALL” this morning one of our sales reps voicemail, we thought his approach was a little off, when he said that he had seen our company in a magazine (we don’t advertise in magazines) and was automatically demanding samples when we have never spoken to him before. We did try to call him back and left a voicemail to call us back and we could set up an account and would send him samples. While we were waiting for a return call we stumbled upon his F rating on the BBB website as well as this lovely string of information. First off thank you everyone for the fair warnings, and the good laughs. As for those who were taken advantage of our hearts go out to you. All of us in the sales room did enjoy the few ideas of sending some dog poo as a sample to him. However while reading everyone’s strings of warning he called us back. Our sales manager took the call to “set up” his account and get as much information out of him as we could. While on the phone we asked what products he was interested in and what magazine he found us in. He was persistent on telling us that he couldn’t remember off the top of his head, or that he reads so many it could have been a few. If he would have had our file in front of him he could tell us. As part of the application process to do business with our company we require a tax ID number and he told us that he did not have it on hand and would have to call back.We thought this would be a good opportunity to put together a “catalog” for him. Included in this catalog will be our very fancy catalog cover page and inside will contain the entire string all about how much of a fraud he is, in hopes that he will figure out that we know he does not sell to 350 ma and pa stores. Good luck to Michael Norman who lives off of free samples, in his mother’s basement. DON’T SEND HIM SAMPLES, instead have a good laugh.
