Its hilarious this garbage number, with these same tired [***] morons, is still in question....IVE BEEN OWNING THIS NUMBER FOR 2 YEARS...yeah whatever its chase right...lulz
Here's my experience with this number:1) Early Sunday morning (already suspicious) it called my home and the caller ID listed it as "Credit Card Svc", also vague and suspicious.2) I didn't answer the call, and in fact I added the number to my call blocker.3) I check the number online, and see that there's a tiny chance it might be real, and might be from Chase Bank.4) I do have a Chase credit card, so the ONLY safe thing to do is call the number on the back of the card.5) I asked Chase if they had tried to contact me. They had tried, there was a suspicious transaction they wanted to ask me about (it turned out to be a legit charge). Here's the safest rule to follow: if you get a call from this number, even if you bank with Chase, DON'T answer the call. If you don't bank with Chase, just ignore it and add it to your call blocker. If you DO bank with Chase, don't answer the call, but do call Chase at a number you can trust. It's quite possible this number is both legit call from Chase for some people and a scam for others. Scammers can spoof numbers easily. If I was going to scam people on the phone, I would find a number that is used by a big bank like Chase and spoof my number to look like theirs. It makes the scam much easier.
I just called this number back after getting a fraud alert. I felt really nervous after I hung up that this wasn't the number on the back of my card, but when I called that number just to confirm I hadn't given my info to a scammer they confirmed that it was, indeed, Chase. thank goodness.
I too received "FREE MSG: There are 2 transactions on card ending xxxx. We are sending a second message with the details. Let us know if you made them.""FREE MSG: DECLINED $25.00 at a Chropractor & DECLINED $687.94 at an electronics store? Yes to both, text 1. No to any, text 2."Considering I DO NOT HAVE A CHASE CARD, I text same, but kept getting text messages back that it didn't understand my answer. Next thing I know, spam calls galore from 8004548078.All of my phone numbers are on the DO NOT CALL LISTS (State and Federal). So if Chase is already aware of this scam, I would think they are working very quickly to end this before people's lives are disrupted further.
This number is not a scam. I got a call from them yesterday about potential fraudulent calls on my Chase card. I called them back at the number listed on the back of my card, not the number they gave on the voice mail. They told me of a couple of suspicious transactions on my card - which were in fact fraudulent.I agree with anonymous's recommendation: don't call the number on caller ID, and don't call the number that they leave in the voice mail. Call the number on the back of the card, which is guaranteed to be legitimate.
