This is for PG&E power outage information.

PG&E reporting on power outage. Nice, but since I use a wireless phone connected to my copper line, I can't receive phone calls or get messages on the answering machine when the power is out. Still, nice.

It was a recorded message from PG&E saying there was a power outage affecting about 30,000 homes in my general area which was TRUE. Their advisory call came in about two hours AFTER the power had been restored. I didn't pick up the caller because ID showed TOLL FREE CALL - It would seem relatively easy to show it was coming from PG&E but suspect most of the scammers spoofing their number may be at play here?

A tree fell up the street yesterday and took out the power line. This number showed up on my caller ID after the power came back on. I wonder how the caller ID picked up this call with the power out.????

PG&E calling about a power outage in my area. I was at my office at the time, but have been hearing from latecomers that power has been out throughout the city. Checked the website and my apartment is right in the middle of an affected area. Glad to have received a heads-up.

The phone lines work when the power is out. They have their own power from the central office.

I get a call from this number a few times a week. If I pickup, no one is on the other line. No VM either when I dont pickup.. Not sure if some scam artists are faking this number to screen for real phone numbers to harass later.

Hi, I received a call this morning (12/16/14) from 800 743-5002. I frequently receive junk calls from toll free numbers, so I let it go to my answering machine. To my amazement, instead of hanging up as usually happens, a recorded voice said, "Please advise a service representative. Your call is being queued at the highest priority." Then a real person (Connie) came on, wanting to know what the emergency was. I tried to explain to her that I had received a call from their 800 number, not made a call. She kept inquiring what the emergency was and did not seem to understand that they had generated the call. Zero interest in the fact that they probably have a major glitch in their system and that it is generating false alarm calls. Yikes.

The message left from this number was a recorded message from PG&E regarding a power outage in my area. I was away from home at the time so had no way of knowing if this was current information, but I checked the outage map on PG&E web site and saw my neighborhood was in fact experiencing an outage, and the information on the map matched what the message said. Legitimate call from PG&E.
