It's Portfolio Recovery. Added to my blacklist. Glad to see they're wasting more money on more phone numbers.

another one of *Portfolio Recovery Associates* many phone numbers, they're calling & asking for the *wrong*person . . .beware! a call from 817-479-9154 ( or any of PRA's other phone numbers ) is a debt collection scam ~ they are *phishing* for info --AND-- using *scare tactics* to get money from you . . . . .give-them-nothing.
Scam artists - Answer it and then just sit there without saying anything and they'll hang up. Let them know what it feels like!
This is a Low Life Collection Agency called Portfolio Recovery AssociatesYou can beat these bums, this type of collector preys on people who just figure I can't pay them give up never filing a response with the court. NEVER DO THAT....If you don't answer the complaint, YOU WILL LOOSE...AND THEY WIN....without proving anything. It's a bluff, their betting on you not answering the complaint or showing up in court. That's the only way they can win. If you fight back....you will win. Don't let them bully you...if you let them win, they WILL garnishing your wages, lien your property and even get a sheriff to go to your home and take your goodies. Here's a couple tips, go to your local courthouse and ask one of the clerks for a copy of the forms needed to respond to the complaint. Also, most courthouses will have a law library, go there and ask for some help filling out the form, there's generally someone there who will help. Go online and search for something like "What do I do now, I just got served with a Lawsuit"....there are several good blogs that will guide you through the procedures...it's not nearly as hard as you would think. The main thing is, DON'T PANIC, that's what their hoping you will do, there actually counting on it, that's the only way they can win this type of lawsuit. Relax, take a deep breath and start doing your homework. Your number 1 goal is to file your answer within the time limit, that's generally 20 to 30 days from the date the lawsuit was filed.....you do that and your 3/4 of the way home free. Portfolio is junk debt buyer, they buy old debt that has been charged off for pennies on the dollar. Say you originally owed $10,000.00, they buy it for $100.00 to $200.00 max and then sue you for the entire $10,000.00 plus fees.If you do your homework, you can beat them at their own game. The truth is, they can't prove you owe "them" the debt, you never agreed or signed a contract with them, they never loaned you any money, your contract was not with them, it was with the original credit card company and they are out of the picture. All Portfolio bought was a piece of paper showing they bought a bad debt from whoever, with a balance that is almost always incorrect. They never get the actual documents (statements, contract or cardholders agreement) from the original creditor, which is what they will need to win, with no proof, they loose. It doesn't matter if you actually owe the money, (you never admit that you do) the point is they have to be able to prove it in a court of law, and they can't. Anyway, this is just a tid-bit of information on this subject......start doing your homework now and fight.....you will win! GOOD LUCK!!
Thank you so much for the advice!. This company told me they were going to sue me if I didn't pay them. I have no money,no job and I have been really panicking about this. I will start looking into how to fight them on it if they sue me. You have given me the encouragement I needed to hear, and I can't thank you enough.God Bless you for taking the time to add your postSandy
Debt collector again, 10 year old debts from when I wasn't making more than minimum wage and couldn't pay. Call day and night every few hours blocking up my phone line. Very aggravating, and I am feeling harrassed.
First~ thanks to 'Cornholio' for the huge list dated 2-6-2014. Great investigative work. I also have a list of about 16 numbers. Once I get a free moment I ll check it against yours. Thanks. So this number 817-479-9154, called and my only comment is that I will add to the death-distruction list of mine. It rang and rang but left no message. I may have a small debt of maybe 300.00 BUT it was back from 1996 incredible that my lawyer did not catch that. I love love love these web sites. I check ALL my numbers here if they are unknown. Thanks everyone.
Addendum to the message I jus left....... If you scroll to the very bottom of this page after you post your comment you'll find news, forums, additional info you need if you are seeking resources about caller annoyances. Click onto the forums and read the wall of shame. Apparently these are dirt bags that others have busted. Pretty cool. Take the time to review. And remember don't panic about paying anyone.
