this funny, fake telephone number has called my home phone a few times a day all week. I always let calls be answered by my voicemail. They have never left messages. I see a prior comment about it being a computer scam. I did speak to one last year and couldn' believe they thought I'd be stupid enough to agree my computer called theirs to report a problem and that they wanted my credit card number to download a fix. I kept them waiting on the phone and kept giving them wrong credit card numbers. It them 30 mins to realize they were wasting their time.
Just received a call from this number. Didn't answer, let it go into my answering machine. No message was left, but it didn't automatically disconnect as other unanswered calls do when no message is left.
A woman who identified herself as "Nancy" stated that she is calling from technical support for my Microsoft Windows computer. She has what sounds to me to be a very strong Chinese accent. I heard chatter in the background sounding like a call center with many other people talking on the phone. Occasionally I heard a voice in a foreign language coming across an intercom in the background. She was obviously reading from a script and seemed to have very little computer knowledge beyond the script. Supposedly my computer communicated with them that it was about to crash. It's obviously some sort of scam.
