Caller ID said "Montana", I don't know anyone in MT, so I sent them to voicemail. They immediately called back (literally seconds later), again to voicemail. No message left.
Their system logs your number as active -even if you don't answer it (your voice mail picking up is same as you picking up). So, I subscribe to a varient of the NPR approach: While the robo-dialer goes through its spiel, I walk to the restroom, pressing whatever button to talk to a body. When I've got a live one, I GIVE 'EM A SWIRLIE (hold the phone just below the toilet bowl lip and flush). This time, it was the old credit relief service scam. -Let 'em get a swirlie for each and every number their robo-dialer tries.Class the call as a 'prank' call because it certainly wasn't anything legit, and scammer/fraudster was a choice on the list.
Just tired of getting all of these calls that are from some company that bought my phone number.How does one stop them?
So, yeah, I got this call while I was on the phone. I have a system now where I use my SKYPE acct that doesn't ID me in anyway to people I call unless I want it to. So all of you who were smart and didn't answer or call back, good on you.This is what I got: Female voice sounded like it might be Asian. At least not the standard generic operator recorded voice ~ ~ ~ The call opens with a song and then I heard that trilling-like the old FAX machines used to make on dial-up connections, then the female voice said: We're sorry the number you have dialed is out of service if you feel you have reached this recording in error please check the number and try your call again. We're sorry. Then more Fax number sound effects. And it looped back to the beginning.
