Spoofed caller ID. Scam threatening immediate cessation of social security benefits.
An automated call (supposedly from Capital One) saying my debit card has been blocked due to a account problem. The funny thing is that I don't have a debit card with Capital One ( I didn't know they even offered one).
This also happened to me a couple of hours ago, they called my cell phone and the caller Id on the cellphone said 619-XXX-XXXX, but they said to call the 800-655-2265 number, I don't have a CAP one debit card..
They just called me from 739-XXX-XXXX (New Brunswick area) and asked to call 1-800-655-2265 number. Same thing...debit card...blah, blah
you got the call because its a PHISHING SCHEME.They are looking for people to call them and give personal info, they don't have a list of current customers at all. its a robocall And remember CROOKS do not follow the no ROBOCALL laws, or the DO NOT CALL LAWS, or any other law for that matter!
i just called and stupidly gave them my info...I am now calling the police
No, it's not a phishing scheme; the number actually does belong to Capital One. In fact, it spells out 800-655-BANK. I just checked here, getting a bit worried from the responses, as I received a call from the number earlier. Then I cross-checked with Capital One's website (capitalone.com). Under "contact us," select the option for "Banking/Direct Banking." The list of numbers shows one of the as 800-655-2265.So, if you got a call from this number, rest assured that it's not a scammer.
Just got a call from this #. It's Capital One Bank. I know because I applied for a bank account online and it takes one business day for a rep to call.
IF THEY ARE CALLING FROM CAPITALONE BANK, WHY DONT THEY LEAVE YOU A MESSAGE. ISNT THAT WHAT A REAL BANK DOES? IT SOUNDS LIKE A SCAM TO ME...
You are correct, tey called me and do not have an account with capital one at all....

Calling to tell me I won a big money prize.
Won’t give up I never answer but they keep dialing it up. Irritating, say it’s debt collection and city says Dallas.
Automated message that a charge for $1,300 has been made for an order for 3d printed headset. If this charge is not valid, to call the number displayed on my phone. No identifying information given.
This number calls my work number 2-3 times every day and doesn't leave a message. Telemarketer or scam.

This number has called twice today. I don't recognize this number and it is not in my phone book.
