This is a legitimate call from the Visa Fraud Prevention Automated Alert Service. The phone number was verified through Visa and my Credit Union.

This blog confirms the phone call from 855-822-1243 this morning as a fraud protection service call. MACU is our bank from which this call originates. I recall this call event during Christmas of 2012 just checking our card use is actually from our purchasing use. Perhaps if more banks were proactive like MACU is about fraud protection, less fraud would occur nationwide.

I got a call from this number and quickly did an internet search, that's when I saw it was from Mountain America Visa Fraud Prevention Automated Alert Service. I picked it up and was asked by a computer to verify who I was by answering some questions (they gave me a few answers and asked me to pick the correct ones; never give out personal information just verify information they already have). Once I answered the questions the computer started to read off where I had recently used my card and how much each transaction was. I was then asked to push a certain button if I had indeed used my card for these transactions, or did I need to speak to an agent because my card may have been compromised. I had used by card to purchase some genealogical certificates over the internet from another country and I assume that alerted the credit union.

Received calls from this number twice in the last 16 hours. Called MACU service center both times and they checked out the purchases that were being flagged and asked me to okay them. The number appears to be legit. It's a great service, unless they are going to call me every time I use my debit card.

i got it too and Im glad, they were making sure I bought the plane ticket. once before my debit was stolen and used for a plane ticket, so happy they checked this time - good for them!

it is indeed MACU fraud line. they called my office number. I do NOT have an account with them. I called em up and let them know that. Bizarre!!

They pretend like there's fraud alerts and want you to verify your card number, but they try to trick you because they already have part of your number

Looks like these Scammers are still in business!I received a new cell phone number, not 24hrs ago!I have never had an account, or been a member of this Credit Union.
