I'm not even a student and they have left messages on my machine at least 5 times. I have no idea how they got my number or why they'd be calling me. Smells like a scam to me.
I just called National Student Loan Service right after I received a call asking me to call back at 1-866-303-3503. The lady on the phone confirmed someone called me 5 minutes before, and since I called the official number I think it's okay. Our following conversation happened during the official line though, mind you.All she asked for was my name, and she provided me with other informations, so I assume everything is okay. While I couldn't get a straight verification of the number (The lady seemed kinda rushed), I strongly suggest people to call and verify the number so others don't have to worry.
Been getting messages on my cell phone of late from these people. The last one was received today, being Saturday so was quite suspicious. The loan people have my home address so assume if they needed me they would mail me info. I just want to thank all who have reported these similar calls - because now I plan on calling the number from their site to confirm. Thank you all!
"They" have called twice saying that it is very important to return the call immediately. The second time I told her I thought it was a scam and she denied knowing anything about that. She hurriedly left the number to call and hung up. Perhaps the police should be notified.
i was suspicious too, they called me pretty frequently around mid october leaving messages. i didn't call back since the number didn't match anything i had gotten from the nslsc, and then i picked up and talked to the person (it was the same person every time, which seemed shady to me) she asked for my birth date. when i hesitated said to call back and gave me same number. i said 'that doesn't match the numbers on the papers', and she got upset and said 'well then call the number on the paper' and hung up on me. after that they hadn't called me until today, got a message on my machine (different person though) anyway, the real point of this long story is that i searched the number on the nslsc site, and it's there as a pre-consolidation contact number. it's on the contacts page. so i SUPPOSE it's legit, even though it seems incredibly shady. they should really do something about that.
These people called me on my cell phone today, asking for Anne.I googled the phone number and came across this site.Sounds like a scam!
