Received a call on my business phone from this company..."Citi-card" (?)The woman left an extention #. I called back but waited for a regular service rep. rather than dial the extention #. just to see what happened. I asked why they called and what it was about. She said that nothing was coming up under this particular number.....she asked for my home #. I said no because the call came in on my business number. She then asked for my social security number so she could see if anything would come up under it. I said no and she said "ok...then you have a good day!" and hung up!
Received a call from the same number 888.579.9239. I called the number, an automated service picked up my call and said that it was busy and to call back later. I called Citicard and they said that they didn't recognize that number and if it were an automated service they advised to ignore the call and have the number blocked.
I got the same call and voice mail. Since they continued to call, I called them back. Several times the phone was picked up and I could hear noise, like a call center, but no one came on the line. When I finally got a person, they asked for my social and I said no so they asked for the phone number that I had received the message on. When I gave it to them, they said that they were calling for so and so and gave me a man's name.
There is a free government website www.donotcall.gov there you can list all your phone numbers- they will send you an email with a link to complete the request- this needs to be done within 72 hrs. There is a link to file a complaint as well. Keep in mind that there are people "out there" who are going to attempt to get a rise out of others- try to overlook them. Please pass this info on to friends & family- Good Luck!
Got several calls from this number ---- sweet, calm sounding woman. But watch out! Picked up the 2nd time she was leaving a message saying she was from Citibank Mastercard and I had until Monday to resolve this issue. As soon as I picked up, told her we didn't have a Citibank MC and to remove us from the list. She then said she needed to verify my Social Security #. Told her where she could go and what she could do with herself! Blocked the number.
That's funny bellalalala.I received a call from this number the very next day I made an online payment. After receiving the call (which I didn't answer, but they did leave a voicemail saying it was Citibank), I checked my account and it had already posted.I called the "official" Citibank telephone number and told them I received a call. The checked my account, apologized for the inconvenience and just tried to explain that maybe the dept. that called me did not receive the updated information before they called.Well, I pulled out my best business voice and said, "I realize that your company is a large corporation however, that being said...you surely have the latest CRM (Customer Resource Management system) which should have real-time data. Wasting time, salary expenditures, loss of productivity and employee resources is surely not good business practice. If I never paid the balance on my account, that loss would be far less than one of your VPs or Board members private jet excursions to Washington to ask for bailout money."She laughed and reminded me that our conversation was being recorded for "quality assurance.”OK, that tells me 1) She agrees with me and 2) that recording will never see the light of day!!!BTW - every time I get one of these calls, I put it under my "DO NOT ANSWER" contact with no ringtone or vibration then when I get I chance, I block it on the Sprint website. It seems to be an ongoing task!
so how about you are getting the phone call because your account is past due or over the credit line morons its your credit deal with it how you want if you want to mess up your credit orbe reported to the credit bureau b/c of a simple reminder go ahead. but remember you borrowed the money are you goin to get mad when your friends or family call you for money you owe them and say tht they're harassing?! lol think abt it. and if you call the number on the back of your card and have them trnsfr you to collections and then ask for the collections call back number they'll give you this one
Well "true", fortunately my acct was NOT late nor in arrears or over the credit limit. If it had been I could understand the call. However, the official Citibank rep assured me I was in good standing & apologized for the inconvenience. I sincerely believe that "odd" telephone calls such as those described here have more to do with unauthorized & illegitimate calls by unscrupulous individual(s) RATHER THAN legitimate calls made by reputable companies seeking payments from actual customers. In addition, I commend anyone who is careful/lucky enough not to put themselves in debt & live within their means in such a rough economic period. WE should not be harrassed & no one deserves to be further victimized. I hope you "true" are fortunate NOT to be one of the victims of unscrupulous individuals & remain prosperous. Good luck to you & you should wish the same to others which in the long run will help our economy recover from the state we are in.
