949-229-4652--Known to FTC and FCC to be ILLEGAL AND FRAUDULENT SCAM calling themselves Liberty Auto, Liberty Automotive, and Liberty Auto Protection. Because they are already illegal, they do not follow the telemarketing rule that they have to put you on a do-not-call list if you ask. They tell you your auto warranty is about to run out and offer to sell you insurance. Including people who don't own a car, per FTC. Or in my case a 1993 vehicle. This is a very well known scam reported with the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission. If you want to try doing something, get on the FCC website and file a complaint including all the phone numbers they have called you from. Your phone service provider can block at least some of the numbers they are calling you from if you ask. Make sure you sign up your own number on the federal do-not-call list. Finally, go over the the Federal Trade Commission, call them at 877-392-4357 and file a complaint over the phone. If enough people complain, this company will be shut down at least for a short time until they resurface under some other name. The other thing you can do if you have some spare time is waste their time chit-chatting at them about the weather etc. until they finally hang up on you. If you can't stop the scammer messing with you, may as well mess with him! Every time they call me now, I thank them effusively for giving me another number to report to the FTC; ask them how they like working for scum, ask how they like being scum, ask if they get paid more than minimum wage to be a ****, that kind of thing. They don't like that. It gives me a little entertainment to offset the annoyance of their constant calls. Never give them your name or any other information! If you start recognizing their incoming calls, tell them they have the wrong number, that person doesn't live there. After a while you will probably be able to pick out their incoming calls and not answer at all, and eventually they will give up. (but be warned, not for a VERY long time)
I get these almost daily, some times on vehicles I no longer own. I can and do report these to the State and Federal No Call List. Probably nothing is ever done. Ironically the State provides these vehicle lists to these scammers
Called at 10:36 Am MST on 11/8/17 and did not leave a message. I have been getting a number of scam calls for auto service contracts this year. The greatest number of calls trace back to Henderson, Nevada.
Women caller knew my full name but was wrong about the car - it is in my wife's name only. When I said that I have been getting these calls all day (extended warranty) she said "no we have not called before and this is Honda" I screamed "BS" hung up and blocked the phone number
Called 3 times - didn't answer. Checked here, got the reports, and blocked caller on my iPhone.
