I just received a call from this number. I called it back to see who it was (blocked my number of course!). The greeting was something like "this voice mail subscriber has not set up their voice mail". I see others have commented that they got a "you won a cruise" message when they answered this number. I can assure you all that this is a typical tactic and game done by network marketing companies in the travel business. they are taught these games by the company (upline) they sign up under. The purposely don't have the voicemail set up so that they don't have to be bothered by anyone. Many who do this also have auto dialers and can generate repeated calls to hundreds of numbers in a fast amount of time. They just keep recycling so you will get repeated calls. Auto dialers are designed to respond when someone answers a phone with "yes". If your message is "you have reached" or some other message on your voice mail, the system won't recognize someone answered. This is how you get calls but no messages. If you were ever in ANY net work marketing business or ANY multi level business, that is probably how they got your number. Many of the people in those type of businesses jump from one to another but re-use their contacts. Also, companies that combine numbers for reselling purposes, called "lead lists" (used in network marketing) gather numbers from being a part of multi level companies. Many times these lists are created by people who ONLY join net work marketing companies to have access to the numbers of those involved. I would report them to the "do not call" registry. One word of warning: Many times you are called for a company or scam to CONFIRM it is an active number. DON'T call it back with identified number (block your number). Please know that many times when you even get a text and it says "if you do not want to receive further texts, please reply "stop"" that the auto system calling you does not know if it is a valid number. But if you DO RESPOND...it knows it reached a valid number, thus you become part of a leads list or your number is then used for whatever purpose (spam, scam, etc) that was intended. I hope this helps you or others who read this.
I think the whole bunch you got way too much time on your hands. I never answer any telephone call that is known to me. But I am grateful for this website because It lists all the real problem ones
They called my cell phone a short while ago. I did answer (accidently, because I was fumbling for my ancient flip phone and was expecting an urgent call). I did not speak; they hung up. Darn it! I might have won a cruise!BTW, MHO: 'mminsd' was decent and thoughtful to take the time write that interesting little essay for others. All the short reports are useful and also appreciated. Thanks, folks. It's a tough world out there. Lots of people are hurting. Please, if it's possible, try to be kinder than necessary.XOXOXO (In my Pollyanna mode)
Correction!!! The cruise company called today for my "free" cruise. You pay for your own flight, transportation to the port and the taxes ($59 per person). But of course the cruise itself is free. I've already been to the Bahamas so I passed.
I recieved a call from that particular phone number as well. No message was left on my VM and only a number appeared on my CID. DIdn't bother to anwer and let my VM take care of it.
Slammed this morning by three different telemarketers about 8 calls in all finally blocked this number as well as the others.
Just got this call - did not recognize it left it go, no message left. The spam is terrible.
Just received a call from this number. I did not pick up the phone and just let it ring. I talked to the FTC today to report all these calls I have been getting. They do keep track of all the numbers reported but are unable to prosecute. Report all this to your State Attorney General's office they might be able to help. Also re-register your numbers every so often with the Do Not Call registry. Both landline and cell phone numbers. These calls are annoying indeed.
