I received the same call how I got a $9000 grant. I could tell from the get go it was a scam. The number that called me was unknown.
I was called and given the same number I even gave my card number and my address an DOB what should I do to protect myself?
Caller reported I had rec'd a grant for $9,000 from "The Federal Government" because I was a low income senior with a disabled dependent and I had been chosen to participate in this grant program. I could chose for the money to go into my credit card or get it in cash. I refused to give him my credit card so he gave me a code to give someone who answered this number and said they would then handle the cash transaction. Said they were The Financial Department.
