Called well before 9 AM from Hawley, Minnesota. I don’t know anyone from there, so I did not answer. They did not leave a message, so this means nuisance or scam call. Number is now blocked.

Tired of these scam calls at 9pm. Get a real job you are nothing but freaks .

I rarely pick up an unidentified call, but because the location was near the cabin on Lake Mille Lacs, I thought maybe someone was trying to reach me about a problem. Anyway, the caller said his name was Jim and he was calling from the National Police Officer's Defense Fund. After the canned speech, he was begging for money. I should have hung up right then and there, but I asked him where he was calling from and he said Las Vegas, which of course was a lie. I responded by telling him I only give to our local police departments, which is a true statement, and he thanked me for my support. He then proceeded to ask if he could put me down for the minimum contribution of $20. I then asked if he was a police officer and I was immediately disconnected. I looked up the " fake organization" and immediately found it was a scam. The legitimate organization said they never use the phone to solicit contributions.
