Lake Cowichan RCMP says its non-emergency phone number appears to have been spoofed and used to make unsolicited calls. The detachment has received calls from people saying they were called from the number — 250-749-6668 — but when the phone is answered the caller hangs up. Call was at 11:30 am PST. I called back at 3:40 pm. Recorded message from RCMP stating that someone is using their number fraudulently and that if I did not call the RCMP for another reason, to please hang up.
