this number calls on a daily basis 3 or 4 times a day. I don't answer it and they leave no message. Apparently the no call list doesn't work.
I just got that call too. I didn't answer it, however, just because someone has a 313 area code doesn't mean the person is from Detroit. A number of years ago area codes were split up. My husband still has a 313 area code because we've always ported over his number; however, we have NEVER lived in or near Detroit. Nor de we scam people.
just received a call, regarding student loan forgiveness. Automatic operator, had to answer 2 questions 1. am I a US citizen 2. Do I have federal student loans. then they said a rep would call me back in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Exactly!!!! Just because someone has a 313 area code doesn't mean the person is from Detroit. A number of years ago area codes were split up. My husband still has a 313 area code because we've always ported over his number; however, we have NEVER lived in or near Detroit.
Got a call from 313-910-5940. I'm on the national DNCR. Figured it was a telemarker, answered anyway. ROBO call - to my CELLPHONE! Totally illegal. I immediately knew it was a scam, but there was no way around the robot. The scam-of-the-day was that they were calling from the customer service department. I had recently stayed at one of their parter hotels (no I didn't), but I had not gotten the frequent-stay discount, blah blah blah. Wanted to offer me a trip to Orlando, or a cruise, some such dangling carrot. The robot was designed to sound like a human, and even ask questions and expect answers. I demanded to be put on the no call list, "I'm sorry I didn't understand that." (followed by a new question). I demanded to speak to a human, "I'm sorry I didn't understand that." (followed by another question). I firmly informed the system (since I'm sure they are recording the call, even without having told me they are - also illegal) that this call was illegal because they had robo-called a cellphone. "I'm sorry to have bothered you. Have a great day!"Blocked the number. For any government types who actually care enough to read these complaint sites, when are you going to stop using all your high-tech tracking methods to spy on citizens and instead use it to find and prosecute these heinous bottom-feeders who continually abuse the nation's and the world's communications infrastructure? Step #1 is to secure telecommunications systems so that it is impossible to spoof caller id systems. When they can no longer hide behind disconnected numbers, we'll all know their real - TRACKABLE - phone numbers! Step #1.5 is to remove their ability to remotely disable call blocking - that way, we the consumers have the power to say "No more calls from ..." and enforce it.
