A robocall from this Mineola, NY VOIP number arrived today, clear across the country in CA. When the call rolled to voice mail, a recorded message spewed forth, touting a medical alert system for seniors. The message gave options to press, either for further information or for removal from the contact list. Intelligent consumers will avail themselves of neither option, but simply hang up or (better yet) not answer the call at all!Some posters have identified the caller as Awni Habeeb; others have tagged the caller as Jamie Hart. Whatever the true identity may be, the caller is a scam operator who specializes, not in medical alert systems, but in the fine art of wallettechtomy -- surgical removal of the wallet!DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM OF WALLETTECHTOMY. DO NOT ANSWER CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER.
Called my cell when I was out of the room, left a message trying to sell medical alert systems. Block them.
This scammer number came on line less than a week ago. My free call blocker shut it down ion three seconds.
