Received 2 automated calls regarding some kind of security system. Called back to a busy signal. I want them to not call anymore, but don't know who to send letter to as there is no information on the company.
Automated message ("Do not hang up, this is not a promotional call. The FBI reports that every x minutes a house is burglarized..."). I pressed 1 to talk to a rep. Lauren from "securitynetworks.net" answered, "they are doing a promotion in my area". Told her not to call again.
I get calls from this number pretty regularly - two today. They never leave a message and sometimes they don't even let it ring the whole time before they hang up. I don't have Comcast, so I don't think that has anything to do with it.
"Hi, my name is Tom and I'm calling from Home Protection Services. Do you own your own home?" And the script continues, even if you ask for a last name or to speak with supervisor. Finally, the machine says something like "I'll try again at a better time." and disconnects. I did manage to get the machine to spit out a fake name, Tom Johnson. I've seen similar complaints on other websites, so I'm not alone. THIS MUST STOP. I asked to be put on their Do Not Call list, before realizing it was a machine... that kept asking if I was the homeowner.
I called the number back and got a message telling me to press 1 if I didn't want to receive future calls and to be placed on the "Do Not Call" list. Hopefully that means it's over.
I also just received a call from this number about a security system. I'm from MI and inquired about real estate in Montana... it's the same area code I called. I called two realtors... talked with one and the other one there wasn't an answer... went to the answering machine. The one I talked to I left my number (cell phone number... same one I called on) So either the one I left my number with spammed me or the other one that didn't answer had caller id and got it that way. I know it had to be either or because I rarely give my number out and that's the only time I've ever called Montana... and it's so convenient that the very next day I get a call from the same area code I called.
OK, so we all know everyone has been getting these calls from this number. We know it's a telemarketer from either Montana or using Google's SMS system. We know it's a 'security company'.We know it is a recording trying to get our name. We know that these started a week or two ago. What we WANT to know, is how they got our numbers! We all have some online retailer in common...who is it? Who sold our number? The ONLY business' (that I remember) that I ever gave my cell # out to were:My kid's schoolsThe public LibrarySam's Club pharmacyFacebook, Yahoo, and/or MSN SMS' - though it is NOT on my profiles, or available for viewing. It's to get sms messages only. For ALL other business' (online accounts, banks, etc) I use a land-line that my mom has had for 30 years. I do NOT give out my cell number & that is what this company (and suddenly others) have been calling.
Just got one from this number too...I didn't answer. Glad to find out it ain't them [***] selling drugs again. The Fed do-not-call list don't work. No way to stop them...just don't answer if you don't know them.
You know what's weird? I never got these calls at all until I registered my cell phone on the donotcall.gov website. I wonder if there's a connection.
