Just was called by these bottom of the barrel feeders. This is one that you definitely do not answer or press any numbers to be removed from their calling list as your number will probably be sold off and receive more unwanted calls. Block and ignore this one. If you have debt, you know where to go and who to see to pay it off, not these scumbags.
These credit card scam artists must be spoofing a new number every day, and sometimes multiple numbers in the same day. The idiots called my DNC listed landline today at 1259 hours. I didn't bother answering it because I knew it was scammers. They're the only ones who call with the rare exception of a "survey." They only rang three times before they gave up. But I'm sure they'll try, try, try again, because they're criminals looking for an easy mark.
I have tried twice to ask politely to be removed and they hung up on me both times. This is ridiculous!! They call me at least once a month.
Yes, it DOES do some good. Consumer Reports wrote an article stating that the F.T.C. raided (and closed down) one of these criminals "boiler room" operations that allegedly took in $18 million. That's $18 MILLION!! The reason these scams proliferate is very simple - it makes Big Money! And, the phone companies are complicit in these criminal enterprises, by giving these crooks access to literally thousands of "empty" phone numbers. These criminals are hard to catch, partly because they hide behind these "empty" phone numbers, which are "designed" to spoof caller I.D."s, frustrate authorities, and generally provide places to hide. Trust me on this - sooner or later, the government's efforts have, and will, put these criminals in the cage where they belong - in federal prison. These a**holes are violating multiple federal laws, because their scam(s) cross state lines. There's no reason why the government will give up pursuing these people.
For God's sake - we've put men on the moon but we cannot stop these frauds? Yes, I'm frustrated to say the least, but what concerns me the most are people like my 88 year old Dad, and he's better off than most his age. All's I can do is remind him to screen, screen, screen - but sometimes he'll think he recognizes the number or something. These are the people I really worry about.Un
they keep changing #s, but the same scam. dont reply. just ignore if you do not recognize the #.thank your phone company for willing to do nothing.
