I just received a call from this number at 7:15 am on my cell phone this is absolutely ridiculous
Hi JD, Sometimes one has to answer the phone because clients and customers call from numbers that are unrecognizable at first. That is why these spam callers are such a pain.
Go get the fFREE app called "Call Filter" ('droid) Over 1,000,000 downloads!Stick the numbers in your call filter - and you never hear from them again. The phone doesn't even ring. It dumps the call right into voicemail, and when the automatic dialing system hears a "voicemail" - it disconnects.Essentially - they are gone - poof - never heard from again and they don't use your minutes either.Yea - there's an app for that. (grin) And it's free. The do not call list is a joke. And these scammers switch telephones too fast for the FCC to catch them. . . . Just go get that app (or similiar one) and it's done. . . you never have to deal with the problems ever again.
Every time I receive a call of this type I add it to my contacts under Ignore. Now when Ignore shows up on my cell phone I just refuse the call and peace is restored. When I'm in a really quirky mood however I will answer and let them try their sales pitch on my three year old. It makes me chuckle. She says Hi, Hi. Who this. Hi!
Got a recorded call from "sylvia with Waka networks regarding an online survey that I completed" & they "wanted to give me a gift that I won" but it sounded like a recording, but it is the best recorded fake phone call I have ever heard. It responds to your voice. I will be reporting this number with the authorities. I try to call back and it says 'your call can not be completed, please check the number & dial again" I found a website for "waka networks" with 2 phone numbers & I am calling them to ask them to remove my number from their systems. The first time I called I had to hang up due to an incoming call, but the person on the phone was still trying to sell me something. 1-877-332-1490 / 1-877-671-6124 Upon my 2nd call I was able to get my number removed. I told them I am on the Do Not Call list in addition and if they call me again I will be reporting them, which I am tempted to do anyway for the 1st unsolicited call. I told the operator "I did not fill out any survey and I have never heard of their company and I am not interested any offers or sales or gifts or an service they are providing & to please remove my number from their system or place me on their do no call list"
I got the same call yesterday. Very insistent, would NOT take no for an answer. Well, nobody in this house ever fills out online surveys, and I shop at Walmart about 3 times a year, so I couldn't care less about a gift card. She insisted somebody in my household must have filled out the survey, otherwise how would she have gotten my number? *eyeroll* She said she wasn't selling anything, just wanted to get me the gift card, and if I'd only go to a third-party website (Walker something or other, I should have written it down), she'd walk me through the process of claiming my gift card. I told her I was busy and couldn't get to my computer and didn't want the gift card, and she just said, "Are you using a smart phone?" I'll confess I lost my cool and told her to take me off her GD list (for the 5th time) and hung up on her.Be aware that these people want to upload malware to your computer. A friend of mine who is more tech savvy actually set up a virtual machine and let a caller "walk him through the process", and sure enough, they were trying to upload malware. He spent an hour on the phone with them before telling them he'd discovered their scam and kept a record of everything and was going to report them. This is the second time I've gotten a call like this, but it was a different organization the first time, and a different scam--no giftcard involved. But NEVER go to the website!
