If your computer has a modem, you could have done that for free with phone answering software. I found a free one that allows me to choose which numbers ring my phone, and which ones get "zapped" (with or without a message).

They call but not one is there. We continue to *57 the calls but they keep calling.

I answered the phone because I have relatives in that area code. He said he was calling for the ADA. But he refused to give his address or his phone number. Later he admitted that he was with a telemarketing company called infossisum or something like that. The way it works is that the people on your street get sent a letter telling them that you are asking for money. The telemarketing company may give some money to the organization. But all your friends give because they see you have requested it. Diabetes is a chronic (lifelong) disease that affects many children. I recently had a friend die from complications of this disease. If you want to help don't give money to a telemarketer who is taking a big cut of the money. The fund raising arms of most reputable charities respect the do-not-call list. So when an independent telemarketer cold calls you, you have to wonder if they are really calling on behalf of the charity.
