So the people with the long explanations are correct regarding the nurse practitioners are correct. That is exactly who they are. I've got United Healthcare and these calls "usually" start when a person does not visit their doctor on a regular basis - or at all (or it could be just a mistake - and if so, call UHC and tell them). Here's the deal: YOU become a possible liability to the insurance company by not going to the doctor; "oh, I feel just fine - no need" is your answer. Bad answer. As you get older, check ups and preventive checks become CRITICAL for things like colon cancer for example - you don't notice it but something like that begins to grow and caught early enough and voila - controlled! Happiness. Feeling fine and not going to doc? Oops - now it's out of control and that simple out-patient surgery becomes not only costly to them but a HUGE life concern for you if not life-ending. NOW DO YOU GET IT. So next time, if and only if you have United Healthcare, either answer that call and tell them, "Hey, I get it, leave me alone, I'm going to the doctor" and then go, OR, let them come to your home if you are unable. Then again, if you WANT to die or believe you are invincible, more power to you Superman. Best of luck.
I received this call again early today; I did not answer since the ID said only "Maryland Call." A message was left about "House Calls"\ which is offered in United Healhcare's Medicare Advantage Plan. They've called several times & I've told them we are not interested & I told them to stop calling. They even wanted to call our doctors' offices to set up our annual wellness appt. FOR us. I told them we are still quite capable of doing that ourselves and neither do we want them to come into our home. I also have asked if their visits take the place of preferred provdier vists; it does NOT. I was trying to determine their REAL purpose for wanting to be inisde our home and I asked precisely that questions. I also told them I thought their visits would just continue to drive up the cost of medical care (and therefore premiums) because they would be billing Medicare for their "house calls." As long as we are capable to getting to the doctors' offices on our own, none of us should allow this intrusion in our lives and extra expense to our healthcare. I will remember these unsolicited/unwanted calls when it's time to renew insurance. We never knew about this "house calls" program or that we'd be getting these calls when we signed up for the United Healthcare plan. ..
This is what Affordable Healthcare Act imposed on us by a man who never ran a lemonade stand or any other kind of business or wrote a paycheck in his life. I am able to call a doctor and make appointments by myself. Is this the way to create jobs?! What all this nonsense is doing, is increasing our healthcare cost and providing less needed care.
Called today @12:03PM, caller ID said House calls. I did not answer the call, they left a message asking that I call them back. Did not say they were from United HealthCare. I am not interested in having them come to my home.
I have gotten several calls from House Calls with United Health Care. I have Medicare Supplemental Insurance with UHC and am happy with it. I have told them every time they call I do not need someone to visit me for a check up because I'm a Paramedic and go to a GP every six months for a check up and blood work. They keep calling.
Calls from UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage Plan for their "House Call" Program. 5 times now I have told them I am NOT interested in having a stranger come in my home to discuss my medical history with me. I see my doctor regularly, I am quite cognizant and able to speak for myself to my doctor about any issues I may have. When I saw my doc in June they asked me some ridiculous questions they said were required by my insurance (how many servings of fruits & vegetables do you eat a day, how many hours of sleep do you get a night, etc etc etc). They said when they turned those answers in to UnitedHealth it should stop the calls for the "House Call" Program but it has not.Every time they call it is a different cell phone # (this time 443-492-2801), I tell them it is the 'whatever number call' I have received about the program and am Not Interested. The person always says "Well this is the first time I am seeing your account, I am sorry to have bothered you" but then goes on to try to talk me into letting some unknown person come to my home to discuss my medical history, etc. Nope!! Not going to happen!!!They get paid for every house call they make and it does nothing but drive up health care costs.
Their real purpose is not a home health evaluation for YOUR health, but for your home's "healthy environment," but since it is government sponsored through Medicare, their report will record your home environment's conduciveness to wellness, as THEY define it. They'll ask if you have guns or weapons in the house; if you've had any period of depression, or are under a doctor's care for scripts involving medications for mental health. They'll ask if you've ever ben institutionalized, or have ever "suffered" from alcoholism, or drug addiction. This is really a psycho-evaluation for your home environment. All this, thanks to ObamaCare. Too invasive for me...
UHC Home Visit: I have asked the callers repeatedly not to call because I'm not intrested in a home visit.
