I have gotten this caller twice now; I just don't answer the phone, if I don't know who it is.... like answering your door at night.....from reading everyone’s comments, it sounds like it could be anything.....
"you are a telemarketer, and I don't do business with any company that uses telemarketing as a form of advertising" (stolen from a comment on this web site -- I love it). And do not answer name unavailable ever as calls are now starting to say that often.Let me explain my idea of robo calls. Each area code has 9,999,999 numbers fyi (7 digits). The program starts calling every number that it can in succession. So they don't need to buy or obtain lists from anyone. I am going to copy and paste and post this info for each number that calls me for this web site. Nothing is going to stop these scammers and lazy collection agency who call everyone with the same name instead of looking up the right one and all we can do is block them or use call forward selective.. DNC does not work when they are robo dialing all possible random numbers. The authorities can not or will not help either. So, just block them, don't answer unknown calls, and continue using this great site for information to be in control of your own home and cell phone calls. If it turns out that you did not answer a call from someone you know (number not on this site), just call them back. No problem. Its alot of work that I do (checking the number on this web site, blocking the caller, and making my own excel spreadsheet of numbers) but at least I FEEL like I have a little control of the situation. Maybe I'm delusional. Its our life and we need to take it back. One person said to call forward selective to the FCC whose number is 1-717-338-2533
You are correct, except for one thing - the number of telephone numbers in each area code is always somewhat less than 9,999,999, at least in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). That's because for each area code NXX, where N=any number from 2 through 9, and X=any number 0 through 9, numbers are all in the form NXX-NXX-XXXX, so at least 1,999,999 numbers are not possible. In addition, numbers NXX-555-XXXX are never assigned, so that's another 9,999 numbers that are not possible. Also, when an area code is split geographically in two, the numbers in the older of the two area codes are, for as long a period as possible (usually years) not duplicated in the newer area code. And there may be other exchanges reserved for other uses within each area code (e.g., NXX-976-XXXX used to be reserved for pay-per-call services like phone sex lines, and NXX-NXX-9XXX used to be assigned exclusively to pay phones). But all that I have said merely indicates that your chances for being called by a robodialer are higher than you might have expected, because there are numbers that the dialers don't have to try dialing. You may be interested in knowing that I filed a formal petition with the FCC way back in the 1970s when I received my first robocall (and AT&T was the only phone company in town), asking them to make ALL robocalls illegal on the grounds that it would tie up emergency service lines. The only tangible results that I obtained back then were an acknowledgement letter and a lot of subsequent notifications about CB radio rule changes.By the way, I received a call having the caller ID and name being discussed here about 40 minutes ago, myself. Needless to say, I didn't answer it, they left no message, and I blocked the number from ever calling me again.
Received this call - didn't make it to phone. Then the same number called my CELL PHONE! Still didn't answer
I received a call from this number on my cell phone. When I looked and saw that I missed a call - no message was left - I'm on the No Call List. What a pain to keep receiving calls.
It's my fault that I haven't registered my home phone with DNC...but boy, I get heartburn when these companies call my cell phone! SAA: Did not answer & they disconnected call after 2 rings. Calling back is obviously worthless-you're verifying that a person owns this number. Thanks for everyone's input!
I received a call from this number on my cell phone! I am on the DNC list. They left no message.
Wen you press a button to remove yourself from their call list, you basically just got suckered in to confirming they reached an actual working number. So congrats, those of you that did that just enrolled yourselves on a crapload of spam bot calling lists. It truly amazes me that in this day and age, with all the info out there, people are STILL falling for this.
