much like the other reports, number claiming to be NSLSC which doesn't line up with the number on the website regarding the transfer of a student loan into repayment. Especially troubling since I only just started getting them when my loan entered repayment. Searching the phone number online led to a fake NSLSC page
scam. sounded quite legit. Asking my daughter to call them back regarding her student loan. I advised them that they had the wrong number and her information has been updated so not to call me back.
Yeah, this number is a straight-up scam and/or identity theft attempt, just block the number it's fake.
caller claimed to be from Canada Student Loan but I could not verify the # as assigned to them. Asked for my social insurance # and birthdate and address, could be identity theft.
Same thing happened to me as outlined above...callered claimed to be from student loan, as for personal information to verify, i would not provide it
I got the same call. The number they provided did not line up with the number on the official government website.
Got same call. They previously called twice and left messages on my answering machine asking for me to call back at 1-800-668-9398. The number didn't match the real government loans service center. This time, they called just now (Sat 8:38 am) and asked me to call back at 1-866-303-3503 (I pretended to not be me, since I was expecting them). And they asked me to call back between Mon-Fri 8 am - 8 pm (yet I get this call from them on Sat morning?).
i got the same call. a message was left for me to call 1-800-222-52501 and insisted the extra number was legit. also to call 1 866-303-3503 in the alternative between 6:30 am - 11 pm. Very bizarre.
Same here; my dad's from Centennial College, and he's just about to negotiate his student loan. A caller who didn't leave any identifying information asked him to call them back. Because we didn't know who it was, I decided to reverse-411 the # (which was a fruitless search) and then Google led me to this page.
