Called me this afternoon to say they are a systems provider for Microsoft Windows and that my computer is corrupted. Said I needed to upgrade the security system, get usb and web protection, get a speed booster, mail protection, a system repair toolkit and banking protection. $250 for 4 years. Talked with two guys with Indian accents.Said their call was system generated and that a virus was on my computer and was becoming aggressively active. Called id showed the called was JGV. Lots of boiler room noise in the background. Sounds like a real scam.
Trying to fix my errors my computer is suppose to have. Saying they are from Microsoft & got a request from us to fixNever contacted Microsoft
got a call from this # 9:45 pm....offering tutoring services for Math and some other subjects....Heavy accent...I asked if they had tutoring in English and they hung up....
This number has called 3 times in two days. I'm not answering and they are not leaving a message.
Interesting. They told me they were a company offering home security systems. I intended to play with him, but got bored and hung up during his spiel. Here's a tip: don't make the mistake I made. NEVER sign up with Women Get It Free or Lifescript Advantage. They promise you coupons and samples. but the only thing you'll receive is more spam and scams than you can imagine. They'll sell your info to every con artist in the world.
just got two calls from this number and two voicemails no message. Other sites have a similar story differ scam attempts. Microsoft will not call you unless you have called them. State AGs do not call you to tell you you are about to be arrested they send the cops and they arrest you. Tough to stop the calls spoofing software makes it easy to fool the caller ID , they could actually be calling from anywhere blocking them is the only option you really have. Pass the information on to others to help prevent these criminals from succeceding
A man called me from 516-453-6886 stating that he worked for Microsoft and my computer was sending them error messages showing that my network security had been compromised. I allowed him to talk his talk since I was not, at that moment, particularly busy, but when he said he wanted to share screens I immediately told him no. LOL I told him instead I would take it to the business of purchase and allow someone there to diagnose it. He became very pushy and stated that because it was my IP address, if a hacker used the system for illegal activity, I would be the person at fault or in trouble. He claimed he was only trying to help me and persisted that I should handle the issue now and asked me what concern did I have. I told him that since he had no way of verifying for me that he worked for Microsoft there was no way for me to be sure he wasn't one of the hackers he spoke of. He continued to insist so I told him I would prefer to speak to his supervisor <-- I laughed at this part. The supervisor gets on and gives me the same "it will be your fault" rundown, to which I told him I wanted to refuse service, would accept full responsibility and then hung up.Both of them had a very heavy eastern indian accents, the call quality was poor with a constant echo, there was noise in the background almost like cars driving by, and I also heard other "employees" talking with individuals on the phone. It sounds very much like a scam to me and there are multiple people in on it. If you are having trouble with your computer do not allow anyone access to it just because they "say" they work for someone. I told this man several times I wasn't even operating on a Microsoft computer, but he continued his pitch so I just allowed him to waste his time.
