Getting 5-6 calls a day from the "panda people" i played along once and he said he could proof that he was from panda idf I pulled up a code on my computer...yea right. I star 69 and called the number and a sweet old guy answered and had no idea what was going on.Now I answer "Panda Security" and the hang up. after 3 times they quit.
getting 3 and 4 calls a day from "Panda Security" saying they need to replace my software. Tired of getting these. Can the real Panda security stop this !
Debbie Kneib asked, "Can the real Panda security [sic] stop this!" I contacted them and all they said was to report it. They were not concerned that their past and current database could have been compromised. Glad I dropped them some time ago. That said,"SECOND CALL IN LESS THAN 2 HOURS TODAY (MANY CALLS OVER 3 DAYS). CAN'T BLOCK BECAUSE AREA CODE DOES NOT EXIST ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. Telephone company (AT&T) can't seem to help; call blocking will not work with 'Invalid Number.' Notified AG's office. Notified FTC. Notified TV too. Notified Panda Security as concerned about possible compromise of past and present customer database but all they said was to report the situation. Have seen many reports of people being bothered / harassed up to hourly by the scammers who want you to allow link to your computer for nefarious reasons. I reiterate, Call Blocking does not seem to work for many as there is no such area code (545 to 550). I pay for 'Call Blocking' and it will not work on 'Invalid Number.' This 'scam' seems worse than the old 'MicroSoft Scam' that has been around for years. The heavily accented caller (sounds like he is calling from Mumbai) often claiming to be 'John' is very insistent and aggressive even when you tell him you know he is a 'scammer.' He just wants you to allow him to connect to your computer to 'fix a problem.'"
I have gotten these calls a number of times and I have even yelled at them but they just keep calling ! So sick of this ! I don't have time to keep answering the phone !
Multiple calls per day, voice mails with nothing but background noise. Call backand it is a fake number.
Dear Fed up -- The area code is fake and many call blockers will not respond to it or any between 545 to 550). When they answer a 'John' or 'Sean' (who sound like they are from Mumbai) claim to be from Panda Security and want to link to your computer (DON'T). I have contacted everyone to include Panda but they seem to care less ("Report it"). Right now, I answer and just push the # button over and over (today one of them still tried to say hello; aggressive), It is frustrating especially when you are trying to get some sleep.
I made the mistake of letting these guys onto my computer. Thinking that I was getting tech support. It cost me over $150.00 USD and could have cost more had I not taken the proper action. They are still calling me posing as panda techs. I have called panda twice with different phone #'s All have american names like Steven, David etc. got to be a way to catch these people.
It is obvious the Panda database has been compromised. (And it will cost them later on when people avoid Panda like the plague.) These Indian-accented people are relentless. I played along with them one time. They get you to read your error log and then tell you you have problems. They direct you to a site that (if you are dumb enough) installs a client on your computer and allows them to take control. Obviously, don't do it. Last time I told them it wouldn't install because an error message popped up saying I didn't have administrative rights. That threw them for a loop.I did install Panda when the CBL (composite blocking list) IDed my IP address as spamming the web. (I was, my router firmware had been hacked). I pulled Panda off almost as soon as I installed it (it was worthless). I had to update my router firmware to get off the CBL.I got tired of them and tried many different approaches. Swore at them, looked up Hindi swear words and swore at them, told them I had a Mac, was running Linux, called them Rajeesh, etc. Even told them somebody already stole all my bank accounts last time. They must not talk to each other because they still call and act as if it is the first time they talked to me.Finally, I cleaned out the 30 blocked numbers in my phone (Panasonic) and kept adding their numbers to the phone block. This week alone I have heard the phone ring once and then CALLER BLOCKED ... oh, about 20 times or so. Satisfaction is mine.If you can't block them locally, hanging up on them is probably the way to go. If they persist, talk to them for 30 seconds and then put the phone down until they finally hang up. At least that one wastes their time.
I have found the best way to stop them (india). I have a police whistle one of them has gone deaf in one ear. Do not talk to them! 547 is not an area code.
