I got a call from this number. It was a bill collector from Abington Hospital. I DO have an outstanding balance, but they should have contacted my insurance company. So the number was legit, at least for me.
The number is legit for a bill collector. I called back and it appears I have $11.06 unpaid balance after insurance paid.
Back in March I went to Jersey Shore Imaging on Rt 33 in Neptune, NJ for a CT Scan. A month later I received a call from a phone number 610-956-0006 stating they were the billing department for Jersey Shore Imaging and I needed to call them at 800-889-4447. So after several attempts over a few days to get past the computer and get a live person I finally found out that they had sent me a bill but it came back due to an incorrect address. I gave the woman I spoke to the correct address and told her I would pay the bill when I received a copy of the statement. She wanted me to just give her a credit card over the phone, I want a physical bill for my records. Several weeks go by again so I called again and got voice mail so I left a message asking for a copy of the bill again. A few day later I get a call back from the same woman who said we made you aware we had the wrong address to which I retorted, I gave you the right address so where is my bill? Her answer was they only send out bills every 30 days but I could pay it over the phone, again I told her send me a bill and I will pay it. She can't generate a bill until months end so I asked where the first bill that they received back in the mail went and her answer was they don't know what happened to it. I asked her if I could go pick it up but she said they are in New Hampshire which now has me more concerned since the original call was from a Philadelphia phone number. They claim they sent a bill and it came back but don't know what happened to it. This is a little strange meanwhile now I am getting calls on my phone with billing reminders and still have no bill to pay. So I look up the 610 number and it shows HAP and when you do a search on the phone number is shows many complaints regarding billing errors and fraudulent billing. I find it completely unacceptable that a supposed medical billing entity can't produce a paper bill or statement and I find it even more shameful that Jersey Shore Imaging would be associated with an incompetent and suspect fraudulent billing company such as this.
This is a legit number. I had a bill from a radiology office too and they were calling from this number to make sure I made the payment. I looked on the actual bill and saw that their fax number was the same number that called me (610) 956-0006. I was able to resolve the issue over the phone without giving any personal information.
Interesting. People look things up because they want to know more or because they simply don't know. Yet you knew everything there is to know about this phone number but looked it up anyway. Now why would you do that?
This was a legit call. It happened to be for Abington Perinatal Associates for me; however, it sounds like it was probably some kind of third party billing company that supports multiple types of businesses, not just Abington Hospital specifically.I let it go to voicemail and it was an automated voice with "fill in the blank" sounding responses inserted, but they did correctly give my name, my account number, the hours and phone number for the doctor's office (which was not the same as the number this call came from) -- i.e. "Hello, this is the billing office of...calling with an important message for ... . Please call the billing office from... <8:30am to 7:30pm at 1-800-____>. Please use account number... when calling. Thank you."I did in fact have an outstanding balance for an ultrasound (I misplaced the bill and forgot to pay, my own fault). I went to the regular online bill pay site I've used for all their previous bills, logged in, pulled up the statement, and paid the balance on there. It was only a week or so late, so I didn't have to call or speak with anyone, I was able to pay online like usual.
