I worked in their call center as a student at OSU - I was only there for one quarter because it sucks! It's the highest paying student job on campus but you just get berated by angry alumni and parents all day... Be nice to them, give them one dollar on your credit card (they get special perks for getting credit card donations, no matter how much it is) and if you really don't want them to call you you have to say "please take me off your list" and they'll never call again. If you yell at them all you do is make a financially stressed college student sad :(. They can't hang up until you do, so if you really want to screw with them make them sing the OSU fight song or hang on sloopy but then reward them with a credit card donation (bonus bucks for knowing all the words) but most importantly BE NICE!!!
Students from OSU student calling center. They call to receive donations toward certain programs at the university. I worked at the call center as a freshman and there was nothing worse than when an alumni of the university you currently attend tells you to "f off" over the phone. If you don't want to be contacted anymore then simple tell them to add you to their do not contact list. Just be polite! It's not that much of an inconvenience for you to pick up your phone for 5 minutes and talk (we all know you aren't that busy).Go Bucks!
Annoying student asking for money for OSU... they could at least just be upfront about why they are calling, rather than asking you all kinds of inappropriate questions that don't actually interest them such "do you have a job yet"...
OSU keeps calling and not leave a message. Caller ID shows OSU AT 614-247-6239. No one answers when I call that number.Called OSU main phone at: 292-6446 on 26 May. Was told that number came from the Development Office. She connected me and the man said he did not recognize that number. But said he would try to get the phone calls stopped.
After the nice sounding person asked for my husband, and I kinding said he was not available may I help with something...they hung-up on me. Really nice representation from a Big 10 college calling an Alumni's home. I totally understand why people are not too pleased with getting calls from this number. Plus, when you call back, they do not answer.
Jo,They're definitely students. My sister used to do calls before she graduated. Have a little compassion and stop being so cynical. :)-Becky
It's an auto dialer. I've gotten 3 calls a month for the past 6 months. Just let it ring and never got a message.
The problem is-- I have answered and politely declined several times, considering I am a recent double graduate and swimming in student loan debt and still searching for job in this lovely economy, and politely ask to be removed from the call list, and I STILL get calls. At least the loan companies wait six months before asking for our money. OSU called asking for donations even before I received my degree in the mail. This is not about the students calling and asking for money, it's about the sloppy higher ups and administration that will sacrifice their alumni (many of whom have already invested tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars into student tuition and can barely rub two dimes together to show for it) for any nickle or dime available. The fourth time I get a call from this number, after answering three times and asking to be taken off of the list, I'm probably going to sound a little rude, or at least irritated...
Its also a problem when they call you again and again from the different fundraising groups when you are already giving. Plus there are too many fundraising areas for the foundation to really handle. I just give to the University Foundation and they can move it where they want. I may get annoyed, but I won't ever be rude to the student.....I just can't do that to young working buckeyes. I think the best thing is to just contact the staff for foundation relations. Their names, numbers and email are listed on the foundation site.
