The Do Not Call List is woefully inadequate in protecting us from scammers and nuisance calls. Only law abiding companies use the DNC list. The govt. will not protect you from scammers and thieves, anymore than they go after the creeps that steal your credit card info (who hasn't had that happen yet!). The only solution I have found is to just block the number after I get the call. My land line (FIOS) has recently been upgraded to allow me to block up to 100 numbers from a previous 10, which is great! If the spam call goes to my cell phone I can block the number there under call options (you can too). Sadly that's about all we can do; play defensive because no one is truly looking out for us.
Got five calls from this number over the past four months. Basically always hang up before you can say anything. The number is a fake caller ID so this is not the actual number of the caller; that could be anywhere in the world.
Jumbled robocall (sounded like the robo-batteries are running low!) from "Scientific Survey" claiming to be giving away a Caribbean cruise for two if I answered a survey. "Press 1 to continue, press 9 to remove from our list" I just let it hang for a while until it disconnected itself.CallerID came up as Massachusetts, and 617 is a valid MA area code. Normally I do not answer, but wasn't sure if this was a friend or acquaintance's cell phone.
Seems like as soon as I registered two cell numbers for the Do Not Call Registry we've been getting calls now! What the hell good is that registry? It simply DOES NOT WORK.
We keep getting calls from all over the country and this last one was from here in Massachusetts !! Telling us that our account has been fraudulent and the legal action will be taken and blah blah blah !! This has been going on for a few months. Also these numbers with the same message....207-494-5385...207-221-0836...678-816-1650...Please can someone some how stop these calls !!!
they just called, picked up, heard "you just won a free cruise to the bahamas! that's right... " and i hung up.
Just got the call and when I heard, "congratulations, you've been selected" I hung up right away.
