They told me I had won a cruise and asked me for my first name, city I lived in, if I was married, and was I over the age of 30. The lady then told me to hold on so she could transfer me to the verification department and then hung up. When I called back there was no answer and it just rang. Not even a voice mail answer. What gives.

Was a recorded announcement in Spanish. I have no idea who it was.

Here's the story, doesn't matter if you are on the do not call list. They will still call you with a spoof number. In other words they use a system that shows a different number that what they are really calling from. By the time the scammers get followed by any government(or dateline NBC) they just change the spoof number. This one,from all the different forums, is showing multiple angles to get you to push one. Don't answer, let it ring. Go on with your day enjoying your starbucks.

Received a call from this number on Thursday 23 August 6:31 p.m. EDT. Hung up right after I answered.

I got a recorded call on my cell from this number today telling me "congratulations, you have just won a caribbean vacation". I hung up because I never entered a contest to win anything.

Call came today during lunch time and I didn't feel like answering an unknown number, so I declined the call. No message was left on VM, so I googled the number and found this forum. I would like to know how they got my cell. I am in Texas - the call said was from Iowa.

If you get a free credit report, who ever gave you the "FREE" thing has to pay for it some how so they sell all your contact information to marketing companies and credit collection companies so free is not free after all!!!
