Always appreciate the posts here. New number for an old predator - indeed if it is Portfolio Recovery they are to be avoided at all cost. Never talk to, Never give any money. They are criminals posing as debt collectors and most of their activity is illegal. They do not honor statute of limitations and if you talk to them they will make it look like you reset the time. They will even report payments you never made to make it look like the statute was reset so they can keep chasing you. No it isn't according to the FDCPA, only calling you outside the hours of 8 am to 9 pm your time is.
Called 9:45 am today. No ID so I didnt answer. They left no msg? Prob debt collection as others have suggested.
March 1- 9:46 am. Caller had no accent. Didn't give name. Didn't ask for me by name. Started with you-owe spiel. I hung up.
Received call from this number, no caller ID, no message left. Not a number I recognize from anyone I know personally or do business with . Called the number back blocking my number and recorded message stated "Portfolio Recovery" . I have stellar credit, never had any collection accounts, and did some research on Portfolio Recovery who has been involved in several law suits, regarding harrassing calls and illegal collection practices. According to my log, has called 10 times since 2023, always a new caller ID, this one came up as TellCityHall but same number, and at 9:49pm ffs.
