Yanno, when I need a good hearty laugh, I know these 800notes forums will never disappoint me.Comments are great! I hope I get more calls so I can Google the numbers, come here and crack up. :))
Went to voicemail, recording about Eversource discount. Came up as "Daniels, C".
Call several times a day within a minute of each other. Finally picked up and it was some scam about a fixed rate for Eversource customers. didn't know my zip code but claimed to have my account info. Told them to remove me from their list last night. called several times again today. Didn't pick up. Losers
When I asked to be put on do not call, he said that I'd have to say abracadabra 3 times. Caught me off guard. So I did it. That was weird. Then he hung up
Thank-you to all who have entered a record on this phone number. Repeated calls while away from phone (UNKNOWN NAME) were becoming a concern. Now I know it's nothing to give any thought to. Again, thank-you!
Caller ID says "MASSACHUSETTS".They leave a message. Their software is too stupid to wait for the beep, so the start of their message is cut off. The message is "... Eversource energy bill. To receive your discount, please, press 1 on your phone now to speak to a friendly account representative. Again, please, press 1 on your phone now to talk to an account representative to receive your discount off your Eversource energy." I googled this phrasing and there is a near identical message for Quito energy instead of Eversource energy.I call back after hours (using *67 to block my number). I hear the following, "the number you have dialed is not in service." This is followed by 2 minutes of silence. I am convinced that this is their outgoing message. If this was a real telephone company message, we'd go straight from this message to a busy signal.I checked with Eversource. They confirmed that they didn't call me. If a company wanted to give an existing client a discount, they could just do it; they wouldn't ask me if I wanted it.So they claim to be Eversource; they aren't. They fail to identify themselves on their caller ID. They fake an outgoing message to simulate a disconnected number. Finally, they can not be successfully called back. All big red flags saying SCAM.This is some type of energy SCAM. Likely they are another provider claiming they are "switching you to a better electric/gas rate". They offer variable rate energy that will likely save you a small amount of money in the short term. They offer rebates that will likely never materialize. At some point the rates will skyrocket without notice. Although you can "cancel anytime" they are near impossible to reach. All they need to switch you is your account number; DO NOT give it to them.A less likely option is that it is someone phishing for information. DO NOT give any!I received the same scam later in the day from 508 881 8573.
