This call is from Yelp. Yelp hires third party call centers to verify business information.
I keep getting spam from Yelp about how incorrect listings can hurt a business. Last week I Googled our old business number we haven't had for at least 5 years just to see what pops up. Many low-level listings (like localstack.com, usdatapoints.com and usbizs.com) connected to my boss, by name, and not the name of the company. The address was an old address as well. I reported to one site that the number and address were incorrect. I guess that would explain it if it is Yelp wanting to verify the info.Today I received a call from a man looking for my boss, asked for him by name. He said he was looking for a lawyer or law firm. He seemed confused that that is not our business type. He asked if xxx was our address. I said no, we moved a few years ago. He asked for the new address, but it seemed odd to me that he was calling from a non-local area code. I didn't imagine he would be coming here in person. I told him again that we were not a law firm and he asked what it is that we do here. I hung up. He should know, by the name of our business, what it is we do. It's in the name. lmaoSo if it is Yelp, and they are trying to verify our contact info and location, they should say so. I'm not giving out specific details to some wacko from an overseas call center who's never going to come into our store.
