Caller (perhaps a recording) started a message then hung up on itself. I am on the do-not-call list.
Call came to cellphone. No answer to my hello. No sound from that end. It just kept call connected.
Received call this morning. Upon callback, a representative from The Hartford answered. She was asking if we wanted to go over our auto insurance policy before renewing. The options below for call type doesn't fit (event reminder is closest); I'll say it's a customer service call.
Yes - this was a legit call to my home phone. Called back and an agent of The Hartford (insurance) answered. I said that I had received a call from this number but no message. She knew my name and all the details of our auto insurance. We reviewed the policy - indeed there were some changes pending and got everything straightened out.Completely legit - not spam or phishing.
If this is a legitimate call from our insurance company, then they need to leave a message and obtain a caller-ID. We never answer calls from "Unavailable" when they will not identify themselves to the answering machine that is screening all of our calls for us.
If the Hartford wanted to review your policy then they can enclose one more page to the renewal package they send each year - in bold print "To review or make changes call this number 1-111-111-1111" At this point it's your decision.
I agree completely, I do not answer any calls when the ID shows "Toll Free" and then no message is left. Very bad form of Hartford!
