I have to agree with PHIL, this number is a Phishing Scam...et.al, a telemarketer located in India. Got approved yesterday from a different phone number located in Wisconsin after speaking to an older woman in her 50's located in a different state and not another country, from American Express. Waiting for the new card. This young girl at this phone number is only a 26 year old and located in India. We spoke about the new miss America....the first time in American History that an American Indian woman was chosen as Miss America. The poor kid filed a complaint on National Television, because she got more than 7,000 threats from Twitter, as she won... she must have been flamed verbally by over 7,000 Miss American viewers who weren't happy about something.

Same with me on the Costco card. I think it is legit.

This number is the American Express Verification line. They were calling to verify if I had applied for a card. I did so it's legit.

It is American Express. No scam. They need to have their name show up on caller id.

Caller ID=unknown. The Nigerian male voice said he's calling from Amex to confirm my application for Costco Amex. He asked me to verify my address & ss#. He said he can't give me any info until I confirm my info. I did not apply for any cards. This is fraud!

Legit number. I called the number on the back of my card to check and she said it was a good number and routed me directly to them

absolutely scam. asked me about my info. i said why i need ti give such info. he hanged up.

We continued to receive calls from 800-567-1083.We did not recognize the number so we allowed it to ring through and go to voice mail.Never once was a message provided.I got annoyed and called my phone company.They suggested I enter the number in my browser (I didn't know that would work so I learned something here...)At that point I recalled having applied at Costco for American Express quite a few weeks ago.Now it all made sense, however, what is wrong with American Express to not have the courtesy to identify and leave a message?Perhaps their mother taught them differently than mine.All is well now.Peace has returned to the farm ;-)

This is a legitimate number for American Express. You can verify it through their website. Go to American Express and search for 800-567-1083 from their website.I recently became a victim of identity theft, and they contacted me from this number, for their fraud department. Someone had applied for a credit card in my name. I let it go to voicemail and verified it through their website before calling back.

I have been receiving a lot of calls from this number but no voice mail left. I checked and it is a legitimate number for AMX . I had recently applied for a card but when they checked my file, the system did not show any calls made to me. The customer service person said that have been having a lot of problems with the phone system the past few days.
