It is indeed a collector for NTTA (Dallas-FW Tollways). I called them back, just providing my phone number, which is what they already had. They were able to bring up my "account" and told me the balance was showing as zero, their mistake - so expecting no more robocalls. I had never received any bill or notice that I owe NTTA anything, and I had called NTTA first to double-check - so their "database" is not exactly up-to-date, let alone up-to-snuff - other than their robocall system which fires up perfectly - almost every single day.
Claims to be some kind of Texas Toll Road authority that needs to contact me urgently... I don't live in Texas.
I was getting this robo-call quite often from a collections agency on behalf of the N. Texas Toll authority. I called them back and let them know they have the wrong number, since I live in Montana. She looked the number up on their system and they were trying to reach someone else with a completely different name, so she was going to remove my number from their collection account. Irritating to deal with, but she was very nice, hopefully this stops the calls.
Certainly a robo caller, but not a scam. This is a collections agency working under contract with NTTA (North Texas Tollway Authority). However, it seems they got a very bad load of information from NTTA as they called me for weeks before I finally just decided to call them back and sort it out. Turns out the person they were looking for had provided my work number to NTTA at some point. As this is a legitimate collections firm they fall under all US federal laws for collections. As such after I informed them the number was wrong they removed me from the list and I have received no more calls since. So, not a scam and if you don't have or haven't ever had business with NTTA it's probably wise to give them a call and just get the calls stopped. Also worthwhile to check your credit report to make sure someone didn't use your ID to rack up charges with NTTA.
