Just got a call from this number the male caller was rude and when I refused to give him my info he hung up on but not before he told me he canceled my contract. I pay my contracts for a year in advance and it is not up for renewal. The number they called me on is not on my contract and it is not listed. I called AHS, and told them about my experience. They said they do not have a 1-800 number that starts with 8 theirs all start with a 7. They took down the number and the time I received the call and have reported it and suggested that I report it to the BBB, the FCC, and a consumer protection agency . It is not really AHS number it is also not a number you can call either. I get all of my AHS info in the mail never any calls. If they called me to ask me to renew early I would drop them. I have done business with this company for over 15 years. They are not as good as they used to be, but they are still better than no coverage.

I have a contract with American Home Shield and am in the midst of a problem with my A/C, American Home Shield and their service vendors. If you have an old house, not a lot of money and don't know any good cheap service people, AHS is OK. It works even better if you don't put up with any crap because the squeaky wheel gets the grease at AHS. It's not for the faint of heart. But it's insurance. You pay and pay, then when you need to use it, you get al kinds of crap. It's the way of the world.

The phone number 8008274636 keeps calling my direct dial work phone number. I have NEVER paid for an extended warranty for any appliance or a/c or anything. They just hang up and dont leave a message.

So, why would you be a customer for 24 years then? Did they just now become HORRIBLE?

POOOOOOOR Customer service last two years. They hired a lady who is very pushy and argumentative to answer their calls for service/complaints/etc. and she has cost them my business! I let it lapse and have not looked back.

Have had them after being convinced by our realator (new home buyer at the time) that it would be a great thing to have... hardly used it the first five years, then we needed assistance. First was for heater/ac on roof of house. They sent out a repair company and they "fixed" it. Less than a day later, it finally got cold enough to actually use again after a mini warm up, and the motor caught on fire. They resent people out to fix again, and the guy said "it wasn't supposed to do that." ... nice. My husband had to climb the roof to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. Then our washing machine went out. It took three companies to fix it for various reasons. The second company came out and failed to replace a syphon used to drain water from the washer, and flooded our house. We called AHS they said they weren't responsible, and said to contact the people who fixed our floors who said they weren't responsible (obviously) and so after recalling AHS, they said we'd have to deal with it (and call our home insurance)... we did. But they take no responsibility for ANYTHING, only collects money. Did not renew. Not worth it. CALL TYPE: Wanted us to renew... we have talked to three different reps from them asking us to renew, and we have said no. They ask us why... and we give them the above story. It's interesting that they are way better at communicating when trying to get people to renew than when they are having service repair issues.

I've been with them for about 10 years. 1) We've never had a problem using the service people that we want. 2) We've never had a problem with their customer service. 3) They've replaced an entire central air unit once, fixed our dishwasher, fixed our washer and dryer, and fixed our heater innumerable times - never for more than the call-out charge for the serviceman. Sorry that others had problems, but we never have.

It's American Home Shield called to verify address. I have used them for a few years and, sometimes their vendors are good, sometimes they are terrible. I had a very old washer and the vendor said it died because of a damp basement. The old dryer was doing fine. I said it was age. I had to call American Home Shield and battle through to get a second opinion. Another older vendor came out, looked at the washer and said it died of old age. American Home Shield then replaced the washing machine.Recently we had a heating problem, the guy came out, looked at a frozen pipe and said "it's too much work to fix it." I finally hired a private contractor rather than deal with American Home Shield. Their vendors can be great sometimes, other times the bottom of the barrel.

I am a real estate agent and have my own AHS home warranty. This is NOT a scam. It has saved me so much money on repairs or replacement of big $ items in my home. I have had this service for 15 years. I would always highly recommend a home warranty to a buyer.
