Get over your paranoia...this is legitimate Social Security Administration office number from Kansas City, Missouri.
I hope you dont beleive this. Got a call from this # so I called information and got the number for ss in kansas mo. After talking to them I was told no one from the real SS admin had any idea what they were talking about as no one from the real ss office was trying to get ahold of me for any reason. This is a fraud. Do not beleive it
We got an e-mail about our retirement claim that we had done on-line. It was signed by a "Claims Authorizer, Work Support Unit, Social Security Administration, 601 E 12th St., Kansas City, MO 64106" Because it was sent on a Sunday morning, we really wondered. The same person called our home phone and left a message early the next week. We still weren't sure what we should do, so we came here and looked at all that everyone had written for this number. We decided to call the SS Office at 1-800-772-1213. The agent there confirmed that the person calling us really did work for them and was actually working on our claim. We called and finished the business we needed to. All that to say, call the SS Office at 1-800-772-1213 and confirm. You won't be sorry you did that! (We also have to say that everyone who commented here... was helpful to us in making our own decision. Thank you!)
We just got a call from this number and they claimed to be from Social Security. Going to go into my local SS office tomorrow first thing in the morning to find out if it was legit.
received a call from 816-936-3000. the caller left a message and said his name was John Thompson from ss office. He had a few questions about my application then He could process it. Then He gave the call back # as 816-936-4441. He then said his name was Ron Sims. oops! cant remember his name right. Major red flag. This is a scam. we wont give info over phone. worked to hard for the money.
I just got a call from the same # did not answer it, now glad I didn't then found this forum, I had created an online ss file, wondering if scammers are hacking into the pages & getting ph #'s. EVEN if I would have answered I do not give my info on the over the phone unless I called them!
I saw this as a missed number. When I called it back, it answered "You have reached the Social Security office in Kansas, Missouri" and then they give you options as to what you want to do. I picked my options and actually got the lady that was trying to call me. It was concerning my application for benefits. Just to make sure before I answered any of her questions, I ask her a few of my own. Only things that were on the application. She answered every one correctly. THIS IS A GOOD NUMBER FOR SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE.
[***]. I got the call too and called back and left my name and SS number. I hope I havent' screwed myself over. Will call the SS office in the closest office to me on Monday...argg
I called into the SS office to inquire about my children's survivors claims. It is now going on 2.5 months since my husband passed away and they have received $0 and no notification about any award...kept getting told it is "in processing". The lady told me the same thing I have been told every couple of weeks. Within 5 mins. I get a call on my cell from 816-936-3000...it was this same lady I was just talking to at the SS Office. She called me back on my cell (not the number I had left to be called on), to let me know that my claim would be moving along...anyway, it was a legit call from SS
