SCAM SCAM

This is a legitimate number from Medicare/SSA Workload unit in Tampa. I just filed for Medicare and they called 3 times leaving a message and they emailed me as well. I didn’t answer 3x before they emailed. They just were verifying my application to process it. Did not ask for SSN.I thought it was stupid for SSI to get a hold of old folks this way due to all the scams. Make it clear on application that some one may call you from SSA from regional workforce Load number and list the numbers.

Received a call today from a woman claiming to be from the Social Security Administration. She had an accent that sounded Asian and called herself "Miss Lydia". She said she had some questions about my recent application to begin receiving benefits and asked if I had time to speak with her. I said "yes" and then she promptly asked for my social security number.I refused to give it and she asked if I'd like to call her back. I said "yes" and she gave me this number and said she would only be in for the next two hours. I believe this is a scam but I'm concerned about how she knew I had recently applied for benefits.

I would report this number to the real SSA and let them know they are phishing for information.

Call your local ssa office and give them this phone number you mentioned. I'm willing to bet you your life savings that it registers to the Social Security Administration WSU (Workload Support Unit) in Tampa, Fl. Keep your money. Just do a little more research before you post something like this. The National 800 number for SSA (which can be found on ssa.gov) is 1-800-772-1213. They can also confirm the phone number of the WSU in Tampa, FL.

I received the same call except the lady called me by my maiden name telling me she had information on benefits for my children. She left the message on my cell phone.

Recieved a phone call on Saturday from "mrs. mcconnell" with "social security Instant file department" call wasn't answered so she left a message. "please call me back at this number, need some information to finish this up" i was suspicious because it was saturday. i called the real social security number today and they don't have that number. oh well, dodged another bullet. GOTTA BE A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL FOR PEOPLE LOOKING TO DEFRAUD OLD PEOPLE! Called the fraudulent number back from another phone and answering machine picked up and announced it was "social security instant file"

So was this a fraud call or not?.
