Debra, if you had no student loan, then they probably are trying to locate someone else and somehow associated your name with theres. Kind of like googling a name and it gives you other people associated with that person. This happened to me. They were trying to locate an ex daughter-N-law of about 14 years ago. I had no idea where she was and they accepted that....never heard from them again. I could be wrong in your case ofcourse, but I thought i'd just throw that out.

Sorry, I just re-read your post and see that you did say that you just got the phone. Probably the person who had the number before you has student loans or was associated with someone who does. Sorry for the mistake.

I think its a scam. They specifically asked for me. And asked about my student loan and i told them i didnt have any student loans and all they said was ok thanks and hung up. I dont think there was a mix up b/c he did ask for me.

I think it's a scam. I don't have a student loan. Haven't had one for 15 years. The first thing they wanted me to do was give out my SSN or an account #. They know I have no account #. They want an SSN. Go piss up a rope creeps.

I didn't get a call, I received a letter from an outfit called Edfinancial stating that my Department of Education loan has been paid in full and has a zero balance. Say what? The last time I had a student loan in my name was in the 80's . Some kind of scam,

been paying you every month for 13 years on a loan that was to be paid-in-full in ten years. Stop harassing me. That last $500 never seems to be paid off!

Just received a call from this number on my cell. No message left, and didn't recognize the number - glad to see that some found out it was Edfinancial Services (I have a loan, but it's in deferment!). Not happy to see they're not harassing me via phone - I get enough of their harassment via emails!
