Received a voice mail from this number, they knew my name and my bank name. They stated that they wanted to verify changes to my account and possible fraudulent activity. I called my bank directly and they informed me this number is a scam.

Not a scam. Wells Fargo account 'takeover' dept. Went into branch store after receiving calls. (they left VM saying as much - WF takeover dept, please call us back). Woman at branch store saw the case notes for my account and affirmed - this is the number in the notes. She called it while I sat there and we determined the cause for concern with my account.Legit.

Advised she was calling from Wells Fargo about my debit card.Fraud .... reporting this issue. I called Wells Fargo while I was on the phone said they do not call people about these issues, they send an email about it to you.

100% a scam. They say Wells Fargo - but they are calling in Canada and I have never had a US bank account. They refused to provide their name - other than Wells Fargo. Any truly reputable company caller will always minimally provide their first name. When I called them out being fake - they got very rude and called me names. This is 100% not Wells Fargo and 100% a scam.

I work for Wells Fargo. This number is part of the fraud department. If you get a call- answer it and talk to whoever it is or you may find all your accounts frozen to prevent further or potential fraud. If you don't feel comfortable... go to a branch and have a banker call with you. Don't ignore a call from this number.

If you got a call from this number and you're never had an account with Wells Fargo... you may have been contacted because someone is using you're identity. Wells Fargo has innumerable research abilities and we will work to protect even those who are not our customers. The number is valid and is absolutely part of the fraud department for Wells Fargo.

It's not a scam, but they certainly are rude. There is a "Wells Fargo Bank Account Takeover" department that calls you to confirm certain details if they suspect fraud. HOWEVER, we've all heard our bankers tell us "never give out your account number when someone calls you directly," so why is it that this department calls us directly and asks us to confirm bank account and/or debit card numbers? I called the banker service on the phone and they confirmed 855-731-2017 really is a Wells Fargo Bank phone number.The 'takeover' department goes against everything banks always tell us to do.

This is Wells Fargo Fraud Department. This is a real phone number for the bank.
