My local SS office said this is a scam. They will only ask you to call the official 800 number if they need to speak to you.

Yes, this is legitimate Social Security. I called my local SSA office and asked before returning the call and it was verified. They were calling to let me know I was eligible for more benefits than I knew - so glad I followed up!
This is a Social Security office number. In conjunction to my application process for claiming social security benefits, I received a email asking me to call this number, and to ask for a particular agent at a particular extension. Absolutely Social Security. I was glad to get an email, to speed up the application process, rather than wait forever for a letter.

I called Frontiers official phone number 1-800-921-8105, the agent I spoke to gave me this scammer number, they pretend to be frontier and offer a rebate and ask you to provide your bank account info to “send” the rebate. I hung up
