I got the call from that 877-242-7372, about the authorization code and to call back the 866-355-3744 if I never wanted an authorization code. Sounded totally like a scam, so I called Chase Bank with one of their numbers off their website and told them about it. I do not and never did have any type of account with Chase. Just another scam by people who are too lax=zy to get off their a** and get a real job. I think Scott was actually part of the scam , think about it, get on here and try to make a post saying its legit. I hate you scott!
Same message for me.... however, I called the online number and spoke with a customer service person who found out that someone else had requested a code for their account. It WAS an actual Chase customer but they had my phone number listed incorrectly in their profile. I was then transfered to another department who corrected the error.
Looks like this is a service of TeleSign (.com) I got a string of missed calls from TeleSign's system from some Chase user has our number incorrectly listed on their account. The string off calls were missed and went to vmail while nobody was around to answer, and TeleSign's system called repeatedly until it gave up. So if you are listening TeleSign, please limit the number of times your system tries to call. I called 866-355-3744, and they end up confirming they will scrub my phone number of the user's account.
This is a scam. Chase does not have this toll free number...Just called the number off of chase.com. DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER GIVEN (866-355-3744).
I just got the 866-355-3744 call at 10:20 PM. I don't have a Chase account. It's a scam and you'd have to be a fool to call that number.
I received the same call, it was supposedly from Chase. I called the toll free number provided, 866 355-3744, and it did not seem legitimate. I hung up without divulging any information. Subsequently, I called Chase and was told they DID NOT at any point contact me with an access code. This is a scam to to obtain your financial information. They must be pretty sophisticated to set up a toll free number, have operators, music, and messages impersonating Chase.
THIS IS A SCAM ... THIS IS THE NUMBER THE PHISHER GIVES YOU TO CALL IN USING SOFTWARE FRAUD TECHNOLOGY ...This number is NOT affiliated with Chase bank as I answered it tonigh and was told to call the above number and was very skillfully asked for the last 4, but later in the call the "middle two" numbers in my social security number. I realized I had been scammed by calling the customer service number on the back of my card whereupon I was informed that Chase DOES NOT verify the "middle two" numbers in a social security number. Additionally - the number I was called on wasn't even listed with my credit card. This is a well-executed scam involving hightly trained people. Call equifax immediately if you made the mistake that I did.Caller: claimed to be Chase Bank
This is DEFINITELY a phishing operation. I emailed Chase through my secure online connection and they emphatically stated that the 866-355-3744 is NOT a Chase number and they promised to look into it. The idiot Scott's comments above lead me to believe that he is one of the perpetrators. DO NOT, call this number as nothing good can possibly come from this, except giving someone the information they might need to access your account.
I got a call around lunchtime from 877-226-5663 with an automated message from "Chase online" with the "ID code that I requested" and the automated voice listed an 8-digit code. Then the voice said if I did not request this code to call 1-866-355-3744. Well, I did not trust that, so I went to the Chase web site to find their actual customer service number and called that. When I talked to a customer service rep, she said that there was no record of Chase sending me an automated voicemail with a code, and also that the 1-866-355-3744 phone number is NOT a valid phone number with Chase.
This is for sure a scam and yes scott is an idiot and might even be in on this scam. I called the 866 # and gave my name and SS# but at that point realized it was a scam and hung up. I then had to cancel my bank account and place a fraud alert with Equifax which then notifies the other 2 credit bureaus. I feel like such a fool!
