She wanted my ss#, claiming she was with claims/court division of Morgan Chase. Asked if had an account with Washington Mutual. I told her call back with who the company was and why they needed my info. She said they couldn't call back because they were an incoming call service.

Same thing. They called me. Said I had a court order against my account. Smelled wrong.

That is a Chase automated system that calls you to notify you of a legal hold on your CHASE account, due to IRS, COURT ORDER or Garnishment. Nothing more frustrating than getting calls from customers like you who dont have their account numbers and are uncooperative.. Later you still call us for the same info we tried to WARN you about. :)

don't listen to above person. Be wary!!!! I think I just gave my social to these (I can't remember for sure, was 5 hours ago) . scuse my language but I'm pretty freaked out. I called chase tho and they said there is no hold on my account. they have no record of them calling me.of note though the caller was a woman. I thought I heard other people in the background.

*sigh of relief* it IS chase. I think they just did things backwards with me. was so freaked out but I feel so much better now. It's the fraud check department or something. I STILL have no idea why they told me the department of revenue put a hold on my account when there is no record of them having done that. with either chase or department of revenue.but at least it IS a chase number.

Received a message saying that they had a court order on a deposit of $295.50, talked to Chase and they know nothing about this.

I can confirm this is the Chase Levy department. I had back taxes due (2007 in this instance) for which the IRS threatened to Levy my accounts in Nov 2010. I filed my taxes in late December of 2010 at the IRS office in downtown Denver in PERSON. Even though I took care of the situation, on Feb 4 2010 the IRS put a levy on my entire checking and savings accounts. I received a "your balance is 0" automated alert from chase, so I tried to call the phone service to transfer a balance from my savings. I got stuck in a loop on the automated system. So I went to an ATM and was greeted with an error message when I inserted my card. So I went into the office and the teller told me I had $0 available in checking and $0 available in savings. So I had to talk to a banker (not a teller) to get the information straight.The banker at the branch couldn't tell me WHO or WHY my accounts were frozen. They had to call the levy department and get the information and permission to share that information with me. They did confirm it was the IRS, which only made sense if they didn't know I had filed my tax returns.So today (Feb 5, the day after) I received an automated call from Chase alerting me to a problem and prompting me to call a number. They did not ask me directly, but had me return the call. Which is smart because I never give information out to an unrecognized source. So I can confirm that this is the Chase Levy department. Their call to me was warranted and welcomed, yet kind of a day late as I had already taken care of the situation after the previous "0 account balance" automated call yesterday.Hope this helps you all. My advice? Pay your taxes!

Yup- me too. The IRS put a levy on all my Chase accounts due to owed back taxes. No warning, nothing! Chase called me the next day (automated) Had to call the IRS and set up a payment arrangement.

Yes, this number belongs to Chase. When your account gets a lien on it, they call you to let you know. This is the number that call will come from. Do yourself a favor and don't get angry with these people, because they're only acting on a court order. Go talk it out with the people who are holding the lien. It's the only thing that works.

This is legit, it just happened to my husband with a child support lein. If you get this call do yourself a favor and call back.
