Scam said my son was a bad boy. Same story as above.

Same deal this past Thursday the 21st. Almost fell for it. My son was taking an exam and was unreachable. I barely undid my stupidity. The attorney name used was John Rodriquez.

Scammer impersonated my son who was alleged to be injured in a car accident. Had us call the attorney. Attorney said the bail bondsman had to leave on a family emergency, but could do an attorney's bond, $5000 in a bitcoin ATM. It became really suspicious when we said we would leave him in jail overnight, and pay tomorrow. Then amazingly the bail bondsman was going to be for out a couple of days, and possibly would be so busy my son would be in jail over the weekend. Referred to the lawyer as a "public defendant", who handles cases all around the country. Phone number for the court was a cell phone, which was then when I became sure it was a scam. Coincidentally I couldn't get my son to answer his phone, so the scam was somewhat convincing. Presence of mind refusing to put $5,000 in a bitcoin ATM was what led us to continue to question if the situation was real.

Be aware horrible scam. This person was impersonating my son. Talking to me in Spanish. I got exactly the same situation and request than the previous report. Be careful!!

Impersonated my son calling with injuries from jail after having a car crash and DWI arrest. Impersonated a lawyer. Impersonated the court, where since the bail bondsman had to leave on a family emergency with undetermined return date, they wanted $5,000 in bitcoin to be transferred to the attorney in order to get him bailed out. Definitely a scam.

called posing as lawyer telling my father in law his grandson was in jail. when I called back he gave details of case and other person injured, gave # to call county clerk, looking for cash for bail
