I have been getting calls from this MDS communications for better than a year. Yes, the cid actually said MDS COMMUNICATIONS! I think I know what charity they are calling for, but I no longer give to solicitors over the phone. I made the mistake of doing so about 2 years ago and then discovered that charity had NO RECORD of my donation. I'm thinking it was these criminals. Anyway, that's my story.

Call to my landline from a toll-free number. I don't answer any calls from numbers that have no real caller ID since so many numbers are spoofed. The caller left no message, which is also suspicious. Blocked and reported to donotcall.gov

Update - MDS is a telemarketing firm in Phoenix, AZ that specializes in calling for many well-known religious or charity groups. Check its website for more information. They claim to send all donation money directly to the charity; what they don't disclose is that religious charities are not required to file IRS form 990 which would disclose the fee the charity is paying them to solicit funds. My practice is to avoid charities and businesses who use telemarketing and excessive direct mail soliciting.

Just got a call on my landline from this number. Caller ID simply listed the number and "Unavailable." Strangely they hung up after only 2 rings. Usually when I get calls like this they stay on the line until my answering machine picks up.

I received a phone call from this number (listed as "TOLL FREE CALL") at 11:23 a.m. Eastern time on Feb. 1, 2018, and got a recorded message inviting me to receive a $200 gift card, as a "valued customer." Then another call rang through, so I hung up on the first call, and the second call was from the same caller. Very confusing and presumably a scam so somebody, maybe in Calcutta, Bombay or Karachi, can get access to my credit card or debit card.
