It's a legit number for porting your phone number to Comcast. They do need your provider account number and PIN. I advise changing the PIN if you still have other numbers in the account.
The caller simply mentions that I do not need to verify the business details with anyone and not to converse about the telephone calls with any of the family members I am not certain about the request and I am thinking of going to lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about the calls. What a crazy World!
Currently trying to switch my Magic Jack Phone service back to Comcast. Received call today from Comcast wanting my Acct # and Password for Magic Jack before they could import my original phone number to Comcast. Wanted me to call (877) 397-9734 with information. Suspicious number, says it is the port-in number for Comcast? Not so sure....
Has anyone figured this out? I have same exact issue as Barbara and I called comcast directly and they said they do not need my password or account information...so weird
Comcast gave me that phone number to call, as it is a porting company. They told me to call it to check on my status if my number has been ported yet to ATT, since I a dumping Comcast after only 3 days! Comcast told me earlier today on the phone that it takes up to 30-45 days to port a number and I called the FCC today, since Comcast said if they don't wait the 30 day time frame that they would be going against FCC. Come to find out the FCC is contacting Comcast and then will be calling me, as the new law is they have one day to port your number over. I was told they could be fined big time. I thought AT&T was getting more pricey, so I went to Comcast who I left 7 years ago and I made a horrible mood. AT&T is much more advanced in TV with their DVR's and promotions they give you. The only bad side of AT&T is that after your contract is up, always ask for Retention Dept to cancel their service and they will offer you more promotions. The On Demand library with Comcast stinks in comparison to having DVR's in everyone and recording up to 4 shows at one time and Comcast you can record 2 and watch one. I think they wanted me to stay beyond the 30 days (Comcast) so they are trying to keep me from getting my phone number put back to AT&T, but the FCC is going to contact them personally, as they are lying to people. Also they switch you back to your provider of choice within first 30 days and you pay nothing, but I am sure they will try to come up with something to bill me for. I also found a $80.00 credit in my account with Comcast from 2008, which they never mailed me a check for. Forget Comcast! They may be a bigger cable company, but not advanced at all and AT&T I am getting a lower price coming back as a new customer. AT&T gave Comcast my number in one day, like the law says, and they don't try to keep you as a customer when you want to leave. AT&T does!

I received two calls (so far) requesting me to verify that I want to switch my phone service to Comcast. The message mentions a name other that mine. So, I don't know if it legitimate or a hack job. The customer service person assured me that it will be taken care of, and I will receive no more calls about it. That is the same thing they told me the first time however.
