Called asking about the credit card I applied for, when I told them I hadn't received it in the mail they immediately asked me what my social security number was, told them I wasn't going to give it over the phone
i keep getting calls from this number and when I did answer there was no response on the other end. Now the call is coming at 7:30 AM...I doubt PNC would call at that time.
Regarding Webster's post from last December: First, the CID was "Unavailable," which is irritating, but I did have a PNC card that I had not yet activated. I called the customer service number on the back of the card. To navigate the menu, I provided the last four digits of the card number, the last four digits of Social Security, and my zipcode. That's pretty standard procedure. In talking to a customer service rep, I asked if PNC calls customers when they have not activated a credit card and he said "yes." Webster wrote that the fraud division of PNC said "no." Perhaps the fraud division doesn't make such calls, but the credit card division does? Another of life's mysteries.
Ha! I kept getting calls from them when I was not home...I called them back tonight. The girl answered ' Good evening PNC'..that is odd..normally you get a series of voice prompts..so she asked for my name and THEN my ss# OR credit card #. THERE IS NO WAY I'D GIVE THAT INFO ON THE PHONE!!!! She said there was fraudulent activity on my card (there was not). I told her I'd check with my bank. Guess what????? I spoke with PNC tonight...they stated there is no way they would EVER ask for that information!!!! It's a scam.......DO NOT ANSWER OR IF YOU MUST, PLAY WITH THEM! IF THEY CALL AGAIN I AM GOING TO TELL THEM I DO NOT HAVE A PNC ACCOUNT....LOL.
Now blocked due to their scam attempt but I can see they are still trying several times a day to reach me.
Ha! I played with them tonight. Told them I met with my banker today. He apologized. ;)
I had a woman called and said she was calling from a bank and need some of my info. I hung up. The next day she called with an 1800 number from the bank. First I didn't know the number so I didn't say anything. She even asked if I trust her now. Later I checked and found the exact 1800 number is indeed the customer service number for the bank. They basically can use any number as a caller ID. So beware. However that number is usually good for calling IN not for calling OUT. LOL.
Got two calls from this number today. No messages left. Called the number back and was told it was PNC bank and asked if I had a PNC credit card. I said yes and they asked for the number. I asked if there was any other way to look up the info and I was told there was not. I refused to provide any further information and hung up. Seemed fishy that they did not leave a message - any time PNC has actually called me, they have left a message. DO NOT give them any information. I called PNC after receiving these calls and they verified it is NOT them. They have had many complaints about this number in particular, so there is verification - 877-762-3490 is definitely NOT PNC.
