Withdrawal against my debit card for $6.00 and it has been 30 years since I used Western Union. It's a blessing that I don't keep much money on my debit cards.
i was today on td bank and they give me this phone number they and the bank blocked my card thank god they not get true and give me to different card i hope this never happening again the amount was for 497.00 i never use western union before and problably wont ever ever in the future .
The same thing happened to me.. WU with that phone number was charging $300+. I got a call immediately from Chase fraud department when I was sleeping and after looking at that charge I rejected it which took care of the problem right away. They returned my money back in a couple of hours and stopped that card and will be sending me a new one. It is at times at these I really appreciate my bank, especially when they call me immediately after they notice fraudulent activity in my account. But makes you worried about how exposed your information is specially on online transactions...
Two charges 1/11/13 and 1/14/13 of $200 each with WU PID5214 and this number 877-989-3268 in the reference. Each contains what should be a MICN# but is missing a digit. My card was recently part of a data breach at an online retailer, so I'm sure that's where the fraud originated. Chase was awesome in refunding this right away, no questions asked. I had already requested a new card (no fee) a couple days before and found the charges on a comb-through of my records. This is the valid number for WU according to several pages on their website, but I suspect that in this case the information was spoofed. I have past experience as a payment processor working with WUs, and the format just does not match what I'm used to seeing on bank statements.
Total scam...phone number appeared on my bank transaction with WU 185 Berry S amount stolen $201.99
Got hit for $221.99 and another transaction for .33 cents the day before. Did not get a call or see anything suspicious until my bank called me with a fraud alert. The $221 did go through, however, so now waiting on getting that refunded, as well as a brand new debit card. Western Union needs to do something about people being able to wire money without a pin, ID or something! Pain in the neck to have to clean up after all this!!
A total of $1869.98 was taken from my account within 18 hours. Luckily my bank alerted me quickly and reversed the charge. It is supposedly a Western Union in California. Check your bank account daily!
