I too received a pending charge with the description: "POS DEBIT WU 877-989-3268 MO" for $970. This is the sixth card I have had to replace in the last five years. I do a lot of commerce on the net and I am sick of having to change my automated payment options every time this happens. Obviously someone has been breached somewhere in the consumer -- vendor -- ecommerce cycle. Question is, is the market going to fix this or is government? I am guessing government becuase when I called my bank, they would not give me any information on how they track down and punish the offenders. It is just a cost of business to them and they keep it hush hush because they don't want to admit that their systems are contributing to the problem by making it way to easy for criminls to pracitce their "trade".

Do you get your money back?

Still happeneing, my bankcard fraud unit called this AM asking about charges. Checked my account and it was there. Never authorized. You would think there would be a way to stop this type of theft. I rarely use my card and got "touched". Now have to call credit union in the AM and file a claim to get the 500+ dollars back and get a replacement card. Wonder what Western Union is doing about it. Seems their name is a common recurrence on this issue.

It DEFINITELY is a SCAM!!!!! I was scammed of $814.00 !!!!!!

I have a pending transaction of $500.00 listed on my checking account followed by a +$500.00.... It appears someone tried to take $500 cash advance and was rejected?? This number was listed next to the transactions.

Someone @ this number tried to charge $985 to my credit card.I have never used western union and now I doubt I ever will.To put it very mildly this really steams me!

Same for me my checking account was robbed for $935.00!! Which was bill money that I had already spent. Bank says they will fix my account. The transaction showed WU and this number on my online statement. Contacted Western Union they confirmed that I was scammed and told me the person who took my money was able to change the name on my card, change my phone #, and my email. So frustrating!!!!!

They took out two transactions from my Paypal account... $6 and $293, effectively cleaning it out. Have lodged a dispute, cancelled cards, etc in an attempt to get our money back. No phone call, just unauthorized charges to our account.

Had an odd $6 withdrawal show up as pending yesterday, description just says "WU" at the moment (hasn't actually cleared yet). Called bank and they were able to give me the 877-989-3268 number - Googled it, found this, and had the card blocked immediately. They mentioned something about a ~$280 transaction possibly being tried as well, but apparently it didn't go through like the other one.Haven't ever used Western Union before in my life, and probably won't ever in the future after seeing all this.
